Dorian is not as difficult as you might think, because he starts with some great items: Pickaxe, Ring of Might, Dorian's Platemail, Compass...Boots of Leaping are the obvious problem here, which makes it tough to keep your multiplier up, and also awkward to collect gold (the upside is that it's very fast to run back to the shop/exit before the song ends). Luckily his pickaxe means you can dig walls out to "switch" to even or odd rows/columns.

The first priority is to find a weapon with range -- a spear, bow, longsword, etc. Blood versions are my preference so I can regain health. Do NOT pick up a weapon that requires reloading, because if you accidentally tap cn_A when you're already reloaded (or tap twice in the heat of battle), you will turn off your Boots of Leaping, causing you damage. Rapiers are good for damage, but bad for gold. It's best to kill enemies exactly two squares away, that way you can leap over and pick up the gold. Play it safe and let enemies come to you.

I recommend starting the run and immediately looking for a cracked wall that has a travel rune to a Blood Shop. If so, grab whatever weapon has range. If not, restart. You can also check the normal shop, but you won't have any gold starting out, so a blood shop is much quicker.

Do not switch shovels, because it's very important that you're able to dig away any walls to align yourself with items. For that reason, do not pick up the Miner's Cap. It will make it extremely difficult to switch tiles.

I also would not switch rings, because the extra damage really helps.

Buying items in the shops (especially Rune shops) gets tricky. Depending on the exit location, you might not be able to easily get back out. And depending on which item you want, you may have to turn off your boots. Look carefully, then decide if the item is worth it. I passed up many torches and things because the damage wasn't worth it. However, there is one good strategy: blow up shop walls (inside corners for the most gold) so you can get out, and also so you can realign yourself and collect items without turning off your boots. That makes bombs even more valuable here, so find as many as you can.

Remember that your boots can move through water, which is especially helpful with Coral Riff: run straight to the top and bomb/attack him to start the fight immediately!

I finished my run with: blood longsword, crown of thorns, and a heal spell. Tons of healing!
