How to unlock the Herbalist achievement

Upon completing the last main story mission, "Ain't Nowhere Safer," you will unlock a side mission for MJ entitled "Herbalism." This mission allows you to partner up with MJ, using the Grow House to sell weed throughout New Bordeaux.

Once you have this mission, head over to MJ's new location and speak with him about the operations. The game will more or less guide you in how growing and selling weed will work. First, you will need to use the workbench in the Grow House to plant a strain (a type of herb). After this, you will need to wait a few (or several) in-game hours until the herb is fully matured and ready to sell to one of the nine districts in the city. While the herb is growing, you can check on its progress by opening up the world map and scrolling over the Herbalism mission icon. Here, you can take note of the "Growing Progress" stat to help you keep track of when to return to the Grow House.

When a strain is fully matured and ready to sell, interact with the workbench and you should notice a progress bar at the top of the workbench menu that indicates how much more money you need to make in order to reach the next Herbalism level. All in all, reaching the Max Herbalism level will require you to sell $50,000 worth of herbs.

Each time you hit a new Herbalism level, MJ will task you with roaming the city in order to find new strains that will yield better quality. At any time, you can use the herbs you have collected to create your own experimental strains, which often yield better results and sell for more money than their standard counterparts. In the end, it'll take a few hours to reach the Max Herbalism level, but it's not too difficult to get done and you can idle your character just outside the Grow House when a herb is growing to prevent a long drive back from the city.

NOTE: To help speed up the process of your strain maturing, make sure to return to the Grow House and Workbench and "Fertilize" your crop once it reaches the "Flowering" status. This will increase the rate at which it grows. Thanks for the tip, Aggro Graf.

NoHeroes94How do you use fertiliser? At Level 3 and have some but I can't seem to figure out how to use it?

Dat Boi TreezyDefinitely need to include the fertiliser options in the solution, it's a massive time-saver.

@NoHeroes94 - Plant your strain, and then at 50% or further, go into the manage crops option again and scroll right to Fertilize.

Warboy925I would recommend that you start and finish this DLC as soon as you are able to, thank heavens I started this before getting too much into the main game just for this cheevo alone!!!

Warboy925Oh btw....found out something interesting and maybe useful........the level of Herbalism and greenhouse upgrades carry over!!!!!

My 1st playthrough, I waited till late game to start this DLC because I thought there would be end game spoilers......fully upgraded the greenhouse and had Max Herbalism by end game....

2nd playthrough was my leave one underboss/kill 15 informants/kill all racket bosses run......so I decided to start (and finish) the DLC ASAP to start getting "weed money" since my racket kickbacks would be a lot smaller........

Went into the greenhouse (after completing the DLC) to start all over, and found I had ALL upgrades and Max Herbalism!!!!!

Warboy925Btw....in my experience, fertilizer actually lowers the profit for a crop, which makes leveling up slower........

Warboy925It would've have been 100% correct if it said..........

"Upon completing the last DLC story mission"

Hey BladeNBatman, make sure you give an upvote!! Lol, jk......

The Nerds ClubThis is incorrect "Upon completing the last main story mission, "Ain't Nowhere Safer," you will unlock a side mission for MJ entitled "Herbalism." This mission allows you to partner up with MJ, using the Grow House to sell weed throughout New Bordeaux."
All of the DLC is available after you give cassandra, vito & burke there 1st territory you'll get a new mission for the first sitdown afterwards The DLC is available on the map, your actually better off starting Faster, Baby! DLC as soon as you can so you can do missions & what not while waiting for your herbs to grow.

Golden SequenceI think the nerds club read way too much into this. By ‘completing the main story mission,’ he means the main dlc story mission. Everyone in the internet becomes an English expert
