If you go in to the 'Avatar' option on the main menu you'll see a table 8 x 10. The vertical columns each represent an achievement. Left to right, they are Brown, Blue, Purple, Red, Final Boss (bright blue), Gold, Green and Black.

As you collect items in the game, or buy them at the shop, they will fill this table. Most will require 10 apart from the Final Boss ones (5) and no one knows about black as yet.

The best thing to do is to pick up everything from the chests, and if it's not as good as you already have, swap it back again. This is enough to get it to count as collected. Once you have 10 (although I have had some pop at 9) you can get the achievement to pop.

However, the game is a bit weird here in that you have to start a two player game to get it to pop (thanks to Za Pantsupati for that info). You'll need to start a two player game each time you fill a column for it to work.

Here is how the chests work: -

Brown chest - most common chest dropped by monsters and often the breakable items.
Blue chest - less common chest dropped by monsters and occasionally the breakable items.
Purple chest - drops from the bosses of the first five dungeons.
Red chest - drops from the boss on floor 6 and can be purchased for 500 gold in the shop.
Final Boss = drops from the final boss and can be purchased for 1000 gold in the shop.
Gold chest - two available for purchase in each shop for 200 gold.
Green chest - rare chest dropped by the large versions of the normal monsters.
Black chest - supposed to be dropped by monsters and breakable items on HELL difficulty but yet to appear (I read that the dev is looking into it).
