For this achievement all you have to do is beat the Cosmic Tree quest line with difficulty 300 or above. To get this achievement you have some choice in how you set up your difficulty. Below is the level 300 settings I found easiest. Many of the sliders only change the difficulty value by 5%, so you can move things around a little bit to suit your tastes.

World Size: Huge - Makes the map really large, doesn't effect game play all that much when all you are trying to do is finish the Cosmic Tree quest.

World Progression: True Thea - This speeds up opponent progression, on True Thea you'll start seeing occasional giants appear around turn 150.

Economy: Insane - Gathering, Crafting and researching are slowed down.

Challenges Difficulty: Deity - Increases the number of opponent cards in challenges. I haven't found too large of a difference between Deity and Warlord in the cosmic tree quest. The bump is only 5% so if you find yourself failing a lot due to overwhelming enemies you can swap this for Starting villager numbers.

Enemy Aggressiveness: Furious - This setting effects the enemy mobs behavior at night. The enemies will chase you down from further away. This is fairly easy to counter act if you pay attention to the mobs you are near as the night turns come around. As the game enters the later phases watch out for the giant packs and make sure you stay as far away as possible.

Starting Villagers: 10 - This setting is to make up for the realism setting I'll talk about later. You can bump this down and another one up, but with realism set to normal I highly recommend starting at 10. Having 10 players allows you to start exploring and resource gathering right away. You can more grow your expedition and begin the main quest when you start with 10. If you wish you can start at 9 for 10% difficulty bump, or 7 for 30% if you do that I recommend turning off realism mode.

Reshuffles: None - You can use paid here, but by the time I worked on this achievement I was only using Autobattle so there was no difference to me between paid or none.

Saves: On - I find having saves on necessary for avoiding multiple restarts. Occasionally you'll have an epic failure wounding many characters who end up dying. Having a save to fall back on is more reliable than the random autosaves. If you don't rely on manual saves you can buy yourself 15% difficulty modifier for another setting.

Realism: Normal - This setting will buy you a whopping 40% difficulty. What it does is make it so that you can only gather one stack per turn per gather node, and you can only have one building of each type. Setting this to normal will really slow down your game, as you will have to spend turns having your expeditions gather food. This setting is why I start with 10 characters, and choose gatherers when given the starting option.

Group Limits: 12 - This only allows you to actively use 12 characters per challenge. For just playing through the Cosmic Tree quest 12 isn't too bad of a limitation.

Bloodbath: on - This setting means that when wounded peoples health can end up in the negative. Turning this setting on nets you +50% in difficulty modifier, it buys you a lot of leeway in the other settings. I personally never run this without having saves on. Since having saves on basically mitigates failure by reloading.

After starting the game take the first 80 turns or so fairly slow. Make sure you have your city gathering, working to building blessed paths. Run your expedition really close to town, trying to solve challenges with social\sneak\hunt as much as possible. You'll want 2 hunters and a medic on your expedition. How you run the rest is up to you, but focusing on social makes the higher difficulties much easier.

To help bolster your character population build your buildings with either elfwood or darkwood, this will draw elves and goblins to your village that often have really good all around stats.

Once you start stabilizing and can complete 3 skull+ challenges you can start the Cosmic Tree quest. Remember to save right before trying any of the harder tasks and reload if you fail.
