How to unlock the Going for Gold achievement

Medallion's drop from bosses, and the grade of the medallion is dependent on the difficulty.

Although cosmic items do drop on lower difficulties (I personally have seen cosmic gear drop on Heroic and Super Heroic), to get a cosmic medallion to drop on any difficulty less than cosmic is going to be rare. I am not saying it isn't possible (must be possible considering the ratio for this achievement is less than the one for completing the cosmic trial laugh), but it will be a grind.

My suggestion is to first complete the cosmic trial and get the Strongest One There Is achievement. This will unlock the cosmic difficulty.

The next step is to basically farm the Daily Bugle op on cosmic difficulty. This op has you fighting six bosses, whereas most of the other ops have you fighting one.

I ran this op 3 times, and got 1 cosmic medallion on each run. I am not saying this is a guarantee drop right out of the gate as this is RNG based, but the odds are certainly more favorable doing this op rather than one with a single boss.

If you are struggling with this solo you can always recruit people from a club to give you a hand (or set up a session here wink).

Questions, corrections and neg vote justifications below.

EDIT: As of 11/27, the MHO servers have been taken down and the development team is in the wind. This, as well as all achievements, are now discontinued.

CornerscoutI unlocked this while playing through my first run of the Story on the lowest difficulty. You can get a Cosmic Medallion from a SHIELD Supply Drop confirmed, since that's how I got it. It's worth noting I was level 60 when I got it; I don't know if it makes a difference, but every little bit helps.

I had a Cosmic Medallion drop from Mr. Sinister during a Cosmetic Operation. I'd personally recommend the Sinister Lab Operation to get this achievement, since it is very easy to kill 100 normal enemies for the bonus chest, and Mr. Sinister is very easy (at least for my Nova). In any case, doing an operation mission for this achievement is an easy way to farm for it.

Edit: I got this in a Cosmic difficulty Operation. Uplink oo Seven noted in the comments he has had Cosmic drops on difficulties other than Cosmic, but I have never had any Cosmic item drop on a lower difficulty. I would guess the chance to get a Cosmic medallion on a difficulty lower than Cosmic is very unlikely.

Pra1s3Th3SunIm amazed that so many more people have this achievement than the cosmic trial. I have 4 charcaters at 60, 2 of them are half way through first prestige. I've never seen a cosmic medallion drop on anything below cosmic difficulty. I've had one piece of cosmic gear drop on super heroic, but even that was only after beating the cosmic trial with another character. I think the odds of cosmic gear dropping on lower difficulties is ridiculously low.

You can also get this in boxes. I never noticed, but there's an orange bar next to the XP bar. When it fills up (takes a lot of XP, something around 26 infinity stones worth) you'll get a box (hero box?) with some cosmic gear in it. I will recommend waiting to open it until you are playing with a lvl 60 character though as it scales to whatever level character you are playing with. Though I have cosmic gear for Dr. Strange, it's only lvl 36...
