  Scaning an enemy is done by holding down . Next target the enemy you want to scan followed by pressing . Hold it down for about a second and the scan is complete.

  You get the scanner in chapter 1-2 the first enemy you can scan is a corpse hold down lb and then press rt for a little while and it will give the achievement to you
