How to unlock the Clean Escape achievement

Solution posted for both Occupied Escape Pods and Personal Effects. I have a separate solution posted for Black Boxes, but do note you will find some Black Boxes doing this, so I advise doing this first.

I was having a bit of trouble finding consistent Degraded Emissions at first. So I decided to read a bit into the background simulation and do a bit of testing.

What I've come up with as seemingly the most consistent way to find them is a combination of Low Security, High Population, and cruising in Deep Space but not too Deep. So the system that I found that embodies this perfectly is LTT 16385. Head about 100ls up over the Solar System (helps to have Orbit Lines on, if you don't). After that, set your thrusters in the blue zone and just cruise around in the bits considering themselves Deep Space, but try and stay above the Solar System and within 1,000ls of the main star.

Don't be discouraged by duds, or ones with low numbers (or illegal, do note that illegal ones DO NOT COUNT as they cannot be turned in) of either commodity. You will find the occasional big haul. The really good ones are the ones you'll see with Rescue ships - these often have high numbers of various commodities, including high multiples of Occupied Escape Pods, and Personal Effects. I found one with ten Occupied Escape Pods.

The system does have a full size Starport with an active Search & Rescue Contact very close to the star, so feel free to just chill in this system until you're done with Occupied Escape Pods and Personal Effects. As mentioned, I have a different method for Black Boxes that's ungodly quick compared to finding 50 in Signal Sources, so use that to mop up.

TheUndeadCPLAnother way is to travel to the Ithaca system on the only planet there of Huari. At the Latitude of 60.7136 and Longitude of 2.2142 you will find a crashed Anaconda with a few commodities and a few search and rescue items.

CodeMonkeysGuyThey have changed how all these work with the Discovery update, so bits and bobs of my solution aren't gonna be relevant anymore. However I can't find anything particular about what you're talking about - is it consistent? Like you log out and log back in and it's still there? It sounds more like you found a randomly generated ship crash site.

RondundConfirm that the crashed ship on Huari is static. Good source of Escape Pods + to a lesser extent Black Boxes/Personal Effects.

Nice flat site, easy to land at.

This guide is for the achievements for finding 50 Black Boxes, Occupied Space Pods, and Personal Effects.

Before setting out you need to outfit your ship with a cargo container, limpet controller and limpets. The Limpet Controller is not absolutely necessary but it is time consuming and annoying trying to fish cargo out of space with your ship.

When super cruising in a solar system Unidentified Space Signals (USS) points will randomly appear. After a quick scan they will rename to something like Degraded Emissions, Encoded Emission, Fire Detected, Non-Human Signal Source, Distress Signal, etc. For the purpose of this achievement we will be looking for Degraded Emissions. When you drop into this zone check your contacts tab and some objects should appear. You are looking for Black Boxes, Personal Effects, and Occupied Space Pods. If it doesn't match that description exactly it's not what you're looking for. Throttle to zero when you're within range of your limpet controller and select the objects you want to pick up. Open your cargo scoop so limpets can deliver the objects you want. Black Boxes will most likely be the most rare of the three.

Once you get your 50 Personal Effects you may want to consider going to the Pleiades Nebula in search of Non Human Signal Sources. Black Boxes are more common here and you will find Occupied Space Pods too. However, I never found Personal Effects at a Non Human signal and that's why I suggest doing Degraded first. If you're close to finishing Black Boxes when you're done with Personal Effects then you should probably just finish the achievements out in the Degraded Sources. One bad thing about these (Non Human) signal sources is Thargoids are here. They seem very ominous but if you leave them alone they will leave you alone for the most part. To note: I did this in a very well defended Anaconda and didn't fear of losing my ship once.

Thanks to Current Future for the tips about Non Human sources in the Pleiades Nebula.

SashamorningI can confirm... there is a crashed Anaconda at these coordinates. I found 2 black boxes, 1 occupied pod, and a ship data core. Relogging seems to give more goodies, but not another pod or box.
