Speedrun mode is accessible at any time through the main menu. You have infinite time to complete the game, but you must do it in one sitting. (Pausing is allowed, but saving is not.)

No saving also means no checkpoints. This means if you die with no wakestone, you start over.

The game takes place on normal difficulty in offline mode. (You will not have access to online pawns).

Your inventory, levels, and portcrystals will still be accessible as if it was just another new game+, however you do not keep anything you pick up, and you do not keep any xp. You also do not "lose" anything, be as liberal as you want with your consumables because your inventory is set back to the point you started the run at when you finish.

Before starting I suggest having a copy of the Wyrmking's ring, (forgeable) 5 altar slates, (also forgeable) atleast 22 Wakestones, a Maker's Finger Arrow, and portcrystals in the following locations:
Windbluff tower (The fort just north of Gran Soren)
Southern Waycastle (Bridge where you begin escorting the hydra head)
Greatwall Encampment

Two additional ones can be placed at the Watergod's Altar and Hillfigure Knoll, but two of the above locations are very close to these.

20 wakestones are for the second-to-last quest. one is to skip the First everfall segment, and one is just in case you die since you only have one life.

A quick path is available in the spoiler below using the above loadout. It takes under an hour.

This is just to add to the AMAZING guide posted above by ExoSin.

This guide/addon is assuming you beat the game before and you and your pawn finished with decent gear and/or finished as a hybrid or advanced class.....

I used his guide to speed run both Speedrun Mode and parts of Hard Mode. I would play this mode at least around 1/4th into NG+ (if you didn't so already) so you have access to the portcrystal at the bottom of the Everfall in the beginning of the game. You need at least 6 portcrystals placed in important locations to have a fast and smooth going run. You may need to play NG+ longer if you don't have the Altar Slate or Wyrmking ring to forge........I would also recommend you be at LEAST close to level 100 (You need that cheevo anyways)

Places I personally used the port crystals and why......

Mountain Waycastle: ExoSin explained it in his guide...easy access to the waycastle and the Water God Temple. You only have to deal with weak goblins and/or Hobgoblins from the waycastle to the Temple...

Dragon Forged Cave: Easy in and out especially on Hard Mode....You HAVE to to see him at least once in the game....

Right outside Windbluff Tower: Same reason as above.....You need to come here for Mercede's mission

Right outside The Bluemoon Tower: Just in case you don't kill the Griffin right away or if you forgot to forge the Wyrmking Ring....

Right outside Gran Soren: Just so after I killed the dragon, I can just warp here, run into Gran Soren, jump into the Everfall and not to have to deal with the king or his guards.By the way I found out that you can sneak behind the guard to go down in the Everfall...

Outside The Greatwall: Very obvious reason...getting there is a long journey and VERY DANGEROUS!!! Best place to have it during Hard Mode.....

I know you maybe scared that you will be stuck as a fighter/mage/strider till you reach Gran Soren with Mercedes and that slow as heck ox!! (unless you happen to like those classes), but never fear!! There is a way around that!!! If you or your pawn were a hybrid or an advanced class in your first playthrough, please read on.......

Start the game, as soon as you are able, run to the inn, and grab all your good gear, esp weapons and armor......From here on, if you are on a SPEED RUN, ignore ALL side quests, and notice boards, you won't be able to keep the XP or any of the rewards from them!!!

Now after the cyclops battle, and you made your pawn, you will be stopped by Ser Berne, and are put in the training grounds, like ExoSin stated above, just get out of there and head to the "Inn Keeper" by the rift stone.....if your pawn was a "base vocation" (fighter/strider/mage) not only can you outfit your pawn in the better gear you had before, you can also set their skills and augs...(you see, you wouldn't realize it till later, but your new pawn will only start with the basic two skills, and NO augs!!) Now if your pawn was an advanced vocation(Warrior/Ranger/Scorcer)...you are better off waiting till you........

Follow ExoSin's guide until you FINISH step 2.

This advice is only good if you ended the game as an advanced or hybrid vocation, and/or your pawn was an advanced vocation (Warrior/Ranger/Scorcer)....

Instead of heading to the Southern Waycastle, first return to Cassardis. Rest at the inn until nightfall, once you awake, run to the docks to see Olra, and have her take you to BBI. There you can change your pawn's and your own class and set or learn skills..DON'T FORGET TO REASSIGN YOU PAWN'S AUGS!!!!!...then ask her to return you to Casardis.....sleep at the Inn if you wish.......I just ran to the Waycastle while it was still night time and only ran into two goblins

I know her side mission is on the way, but do not escort Madeiene to the Encampment if you want to save time, she wanders off A LOT and you have to wait for her to catch up with you....not worth it......in hard mode it doesn't matter.....

If you want or need to buy a Maker's finger from Fournival, I would do it as soon as possible because he may found guilty later.....

Just follow the rest of ExoSin's guide and you will do just fine!!!
