How to unlock the The Bomber achievement

For this you need to be the bomber class on Starfighter Assault, and get 50 kills with the dual proton torpedoes by using RB. Bots count too, like the objective marked Y-Wings or Tie Bombers.

There are some cards that can help with this, particularly Advanced Target Lock. If you have no cards for the bomber class whatsoever like I did for awhile, then craft that one first.

Unless you also have the card that makes the torpedoes stronger, you'll usually want to weaken the enemy ships down to half health first with your ship's standard blasters or other abilities before you attempt a kill with RB. Just be prepared for the likelihood of other players taking your kill or the torpedoes missing their target. It's partly luck and being in the right place at the right time, so don't get too discouraged.

If you're a Y-Wing, it does help to use the ion cannon (LB + RB) to disable the target's abilities and slow them down for a time, making them an easier kill for the proton torpedoes; you'll usually be right behind them if they're stunned as such.

At first I thought it was a glitch, but there is one map out of the initial five on Starfighter Assault that doesn't have the bomber class available for whatever reason, so if you see it then back out and search the game mode again, unless there's other achievements or career challenges you're going for on that map.

Update: The newest Starfighter map based on the beginning scene of Episode 8 The Last Jedi also doesn't have the bomber class...

Oh, lastly, any hero ships that have the dual proton torpedoes won't count toward the achievement, from what I heard, so stick with the bomber class. Good luck.

Update 2: As pointed out by Fooga, a good alternative for those who aren't into Starfighter Assault can use the bomber class ships on Galactic Assault by bombing enemy players on the ground; one well placed torpedo said to be a one-hit kill.

l Hackzy lYou don't have to finish the kill with the torpedo. You can hit the enemy then finish them off with anything.

MutesVPN^ This information is false. I've tried this at least 15 times and it never counted. Final hit HAS to be with the torpedo.

This achievement can be earned in Heroes and Villains.

This achievement can be earned by simply joining existing games as the servers are still very active. In the US particularily. But, if you want to boost the kills, an eight person session is recommended. It only takes one random...

At start of session, have all session members navigate to the "options" tab in the main menu and select "EA Account". Under Multiplayer Settings, change ping site to Japan. Australia and Germany may also work. We are looking for servers grossly under used.

Designate the two players whose resulting pings are most similar as squad leaders and have them create an in-game squad each**. Under Multiplayer, squad leaders should coordinate searching for a Hero Starfighter match from within the Heroes And Villains tab.

At match start, all but one Hero on each team will crash. The player on each side attempting the achievement will select a base model Tie Bomber or Y-Wing when returning while others select a fighter or intercept class vehicle - not a bomber. The bombers will kill the opposing fighters using Dual Proton Torpedoes ( cn_RB ) earning credit toward the needed 50 kills. Note that targets may need some softening up a bit (30%) with blasters prior to actual torpedo launch.

As long as the two hero ships survive, players will be able to spawn back in over and over until match times out. When a player pops the achievement, have them suicide or killed so another player on that team may start their run by spawning as the bomber. Each round lasts 5 minutes and will end in a draw. At the beginning of the next round, all roles may be changed including Hero Ship players.

Although not necessary, the Star Cards "Advanced Torpedoes", "Targeting Computer" and "Advanced Target Lock" may help.

NOTE: this method can also be used to attain kill streaks as well for progress for The Interceptor in Star Wars Battlefront II. Just remember to crash after the second kill in order to establish a new streak. This can be done at the same time or separately.

** To invite squad members, you first must click upon your gamerpic in the upper left and create the squad to then send game invites.

You can quickly be kicked from a match for idling. Mix up your turns and fire weapons every so often to avoid this. I was kicked once for making a smooth arcking turn. Too steady I guess. Using under populated servers increase the chance of the player returning to the match before a random fills the slot.

Above method still being perfected by Arador, FEEDtheBEA5T, HellSpawnCF42, LRD SOTH, Ms Dudette, Sniggit, yhfgtbfkm and NonKosherSalt. We will edit or add in the comments any refinements. Questions or comments are welcomed.

As previously mentioned use the star cards for torpedo damage and boosting your target lock.

Fighters and other bombers will require a few hits from your primary weapon for the torpedoes to defeat them. Interceptors will be defeated outright.

My best advice though is to do this at night. It took me a few years to get my first 25 kills. I just ground out the last 25 in an hour of playing at 4am. Less human ships, more ai ship with less people targeting them. Objective enemy ships also count.
