To unlock this achievement, you need to launch a vessel into space (above 70km) and land it back down on either the launch pad or the runway. It doesn't matter what kind of vessel it is (both rockets and space planes will work), nor where it launches from.

Don't worry, this is actually easier than it sounds.

Step 1: Build a simple two stage rocket to get you into space. It doesn't have to be big or fancy. It just needs to get you above the 70km mark.

The lander stage should have some fuel and a terrier engine, 4-6 parachutes, landing gear, an Advanced Inline Stabilizer for control, and batteries.

Step 2: Launch your rocket and go straight up. Do not point the rocket in any direction, just let SAS keep it straight. The trajectory may look like it will land far into the ocean, however keep in mind that the planet rotates as you fall. Bring your apoapsis up to 75km and kill the engine.

Step 3: Once you're in space create a quick save so that if you fail you can just reload and try again.

Now at this point you're just guiding your fall. Detach the lower stage and use the rocket on your lander when needed to 'steer' the vessel to the ksp. Keep in mind that you should preserve as much fuel as possible, so only fire in quick burst when needed.

Step 4: Deploy your parachutes at about 6-10km in altitude. Even though your chutes are deployed, you can still guide your rocket towards where you want to land by firing your engine. Obviously you're aiming to land on the runway.

Step 5: If you miss, don't worry. Just reload the quick save and try again. Once your lander touches down on the runway the achievement will pop.

You can also launch a space plane or shuttle into space and then land it back on the runway. If you are experienced with handling and de-orbiting space planes then this may be your best bet. However, guiding a plane from space and then landing it on the runway can be rather difficult even for seasoned players.
