I'm sure there is easier or simpler ways, but here's the basic gist of how I made it through nightmare.

-To start, look for the dumpster near the gas pump where you spawn, there should be a gas tank there, get it and equip it. Club nearby cats with it until you learn Triple Thrash. You'll die a lot but the only penalty is losing experience, which you don't have any of yet, so it doesn't matter.

-Once you have triple thrash, this will carry you through the early game. It involves 3 hits, and the last one knocks the enemy away, and the first two hits have a mini-knockback so enemies can't hit you while you do it. The only thing to watch for is their enrage bar. If they fully enrage, they can't be knocked back and will steamroll you. So, you want to space your attacks out. There's a skill in the top line of the middle skill tree that makes you enrage them less, you want this early. The other thing to watch out for is getting jumped by other cats. While you can handle multiple cats from the same direction if they come from different angles you're gonna be dead real quick.

-Get a few levels. Pour your stat points into will, as will gives you % damage reduction. It will help a lot in surviving nightmare. After you've gained a couple levels do the story until you get you get Shukman. Use the hole nearby after you meet him to play his minigame, and spend a bit of time playing it. You'll get equipment, and also money. Spend the money buying shit in the business simulator so you get some cash flow. While doing this you'll get some nice equipment, you should be trying to equip stuff with luck, as this gives you better drops. Of course, don't neglect will or vitality, but pieces with some of each stat are ideal.

-Now progress through the story until you get your phone. Harrid gives a quest that involves getting 25 broken cat claws, which are picked up automatically when you loot cats. I spent a huge amount of time just killing cats to complete this quest again and again. I think I quit around level 30-35. Keep aiming for more luck to get better equipment as much as possible ASAP during this. After doing this I had blue everything and a purple hat. I switched to dual wielding one handed weapons during this stage, and used them for the rest of the game. I'm not sure what the ideal combo is, but I used the triple hit thing, along with the right hit/left hit attacks to make a long combo, and put triple hit as my Y button attack. I'd use my full combo and then hit Y, though most things will die before you do a full combo.

-Head into the cat world now and play through it until you get a full set of orange equipment (which is required for an achievement). You'll be able to roll through the rest of the main story pretty easily with all this. I THINK the final bosses' health is dependent on how much property you own, as I owned everything and he had about 6000 HP, so I killed him before I even got a full combo off. It was pretty silly. I rather hate the game so I have no interest in playing through the game with less property to test it, but I can't think of any other reason the boss would be so easy. The cat world bosses had HP in the tens of thousands, and the boss in the final cat world before the stages start over had over 100k, so I can't think of any other reason the final boss of the story would only have 6000.

Some other notes.

Cat Bosses : Most of the bosses have some kind of glitch you can take advantage of to beat them very easily. For example, for the cat that uses a laser gun, you can simply sit behind the exit portal He won't try to find you and Shukman will kill him while he just stands there like a dumbass. For the four small cats, I jumped on the very top of the portal and ranged them to death, although it takes forever. I couldn't figure out why, but sometimes Shukman would help and sometimes he would glitch out and disappear. Either way they never attacked me up there. For the boss that goes invisibile, I would jump onto the portal until you see a black circle, then jump off. You'll hear him attack, and then he will appear (but be mostly camouflaged). You can hit him until he disappears again and repeat until he dies. For the "final" boss before the stages loop (Khonsu), there's some holes in the ground in the arena and I just ran around those while Shukman killed him. The boss doesn't walk fast enough to catch up to you if you run. It's slow, but it works.

Business Manager : This only really matters for the achievements (and the final boss if my guess is correct). Money is pretty useless in this game outside of the business manager. Shops still had white items when I had blue, they didn't have purple items until I had legendary from the cat world.

Build : Will is important for the damage reduction, and Vitality is important for more HP of course. I put the vast majority of my points in Strength, Will and Vitality. I had most of my points in the left tree. The key ones are the damage increase (of course!) and the middle one in the 2nd from the bottom line. Basically every three attacks it does an execution equal to the damage of those 3 attacks. It greatly increases your damage. The "ultimate" skill at the bottom that gives a permanent increase to critical damage for each kill stacks up quite a bit. By the time I finished the cat world and did the story I had about 200-300 extra crit damage. As for Shukman, I dumped all his points in strength and agility (none in vitality because enemies only attack Shukman if you're dead or they can't locate you). The main skill of his you want is bite in the left tree (and the skill below it that gives him a chance to trigger bite on each auto attack). Bite lowers an enemies' HP by 6% of their current HP per tick, and it does silly amounts of damage, especially when he uses it at the start of the fight. The only catch is that once you get a high enough trophy level in the cat world, bosses seem to be immune to it. I also put points into his bleed related skills, as I took the skill for Abo in the left tree that boosts damage to bleeding targets.
