While there may be an earlier place in which to get this achievement, I believe this may be story-related. A few hours into the game, as you're working toward gaining your fourth animal language, you'll come to a point where you're chasing one or two big lizards (?) (not sure what animal they are, but they're the ones who sort of burrow underground, then pop back up).
Eventually, you'll come to an area where there are tons of these little guys all around. Within the game, they're the animals you can pick up (with
) and use abilities that are marked with the segmented triangle logo, like the flowers that become launching pads.
To get this achievement, I used
to begin talking to one, then moved to the next. I don't know what actually made the achievement pop... I didn't talk to 10 (I don't believe) and it seemed like there were far more than 10 around me. Be patient, keep talking, and eventually this will pop.
