How to unlock the Hope County Master Angler achievement

    The solution above is great on how to get Old Betsy Fishing Rod but that is only 1 of the 4. The 4 Rods you need to unlock for the achievement are:

    Basic Fishing Rod can be bought for $300 from the shop
    Natural Fishing Rod can be bought for $800 from the shop
    Wonderboy Fishing Rod is unlocked by completing Skylar missionsThe Admiral and Gone Fishin'
    Old Betsy Fishing Rod is unlocked by catching fish that beat the County Record
    Holland Valley Region - Fall's End, inside Spread Eagle Bar in the back left.
    Pallid Sturgeon - 55 lbs
    Paddlefish Sturgeon - 112 lbs
    Herbane River Region - Hope County Jail, door to the left of the shop entrance
    Smallmouth Bass - 6 lbs
    Largemouth Bass - 8 lbs
    Rock Bass - 3 lbs
    Whitetail Mountain Region - In Wolfs Den behind the shop counter
    Chinook Salmon - 27 lbs
    Kokanee Salmon - 6 lbs
    Arctic Grayline Salmon - 3 lbs
    All Regions (Hope County) - Left side on any of the 3 boards
    Bull Trout - 21 lbs
    Golden Trout - 4 lbs
    Lake Trout - 37 lbs
    Rainbow Trout - 28 lbs

    Here is a Video Guide to help with Old Betsy thanks to Maka91:

    You have to fish in the spots marked as "hard" on the map ie: Golden Trout (Hard) located directly south of Rye and Sons Aviation. Also I found it really helps if you change your bobber by first holding down cn_LB then while holding cn_LB press cn_RB and while the Fishing Rod is highlighted press cn_Y to switch your bobber to the one that is the same as the fish you are trying to catch. These bobbers are:
    Basic Mayfly
    Hybrid Sturgeon
    Salmon Egg
    Bass Popper
    Trout Bugger

    xFkjR^ was having the same issue as above, but with Bull Trout, so i liberated the outpost above where the hard bull trout marker is, caught another and it popped on the loading screen fast travelling to the jail.

    AntiFederal1Can confirm, fast travelling to the jail gave me the achievement, even though I only had 50% progress beforehand.

    There is a poster board with each regions records hidden in one spot each in the game. Holland Valley is in the Spread Eagle bar, in Fall’s End, in the back left corner next to the stage. Henbane River is in the Hope County jail. Whitetail Mountains is in a bunker called Wolfs Den. I visited this as part of the story so cant verify when or if its open earlier. The 4 trout on the left will always be the same. The fish on the right change based on which area. Scattered around the map and located via maps/signs/conversations or even stumbling upon them are fishing locations for particular types of fish that will also say (hard). These are where to fish for which ones you need. It will show a ribbon on the fish if you have already beat the record. I will make a list on this solution with any locations I find and update periodically as I work my own way through the game. Ive updated the solution to show the weights needed so they can all be in one place instead of 3

    Bull Trout - 21#
    At the very north end of the rapids/waterfalls that feed into Langford Lake
    East of the Copperhead Rail Yard

    Lake Trout - 37#
    Southwest of Rye & Sons Aviation, East side of the mouth where the rivers meet

    Golden Trout - 4#
    South of Rye & Sons Aviation, south of Falls End
    East end of Silver Lake, peninsula north of the bridge across from a boat shop and Tanami Residence
    Across Wishbon Lake from Fort Drubman

    Rainbow Trout - 28#
    Just east of Rae-Rae’s Pumpkin Farm

    Just South of Lamb of God church on the Eastern Bank

    Paddlefish - 112#
    Southeast of Kellett Cattle Co. which is southeast of Falls End on the banks of the river

    Directly East of Moonflower trailer park between Whistling Beaver Brewery and Jessop Conservatory outposts on the East bank

    Largemouth Bass - 8#
    Southeast of Hope County jail on the North side of the river is an outpost called Nolans Fly Shop. South of here on the banks
    Directly Northwest of Whistling Beaver Brewery at the fork in the river

    Rock Bass - 3#
    Just West of Hope County jail is a place called Nelson Residece. West from there on the opposite bank of the river

    Whitetail Mountains
    Chinook Salmon - 27#
    North of FANG Center. East side of river

    Kokanee Salmon - 6#
    Just East of Wolfs Den is a small lake next to Red Tail Cabin

    Arctic Greyling Salmon - 3#
    Just West of Wolfs Den the north end of the lake up in the mountains

    Maiden Ty OneRegarding the Bull Trout, by "feed into" you mean "flow out of". Wasted about half an hour trying to find rapids that feed INTO Lanford Lake at the north of it as opposed to rapids that flow OUT OF Langford Lake to the south...

    - Rod #1 is free, Rod #2 is $800

    - Rod #3 "Wonderboy" is unlocked by catching "The Admiral" for Skylar, talk to her at Dylan's Master Bait Shop to start the quest
