Mission Help

"x Cars" - The x for the number of cars here are the number of opponents that you have to race against in this mission.

"Catch the Vehicle" - ** See Stop Opponent **

"x Checkpoints" - The checkpoints are just to make sure that you're going the right way down the path and are denoted by large, blue circular lights that you need to pass through to register. If you miss one, you must go back for it. As a note, if the way-point arrow is pointing way off in the distance, use your judgment to not go through cornfields and such. Not that it's not a shorter distance, but because your car will slow down and it'll wind up taking you longer anyway. The last checkpoint in checkpoint races requires you to stop within the circle and is turned red.

"Damage Limit" - This is the maximum amount of damage that your car can take before you fail the mission. You gain the most damage to your car by hitting scenery, guardrails, and trucks. Just drive carefully to keep your damage percentage down.

"Damage Limit Opponent" - This is the maximum amount of damage that your opponent can take before you fail the mission. They can take the most damage from you hitting them and from hitting other vehicles and scenery. If this is a mission where you have to stop your opponent in some fashion, do it quickly.

"Drone Detonations: y" - If this is explained anywhere else in the game, I guess I missed it, but here's what you have to do. When you press the action button (which is apparently [R3] or press in [Right Stick]), you drop and activate a detonation drone. You drive it like any other car, although it has terrible traction in offroad situations. When you click the action button again ([R3]), the drone detonates. To stop driving the drone, you can either detonate or press [Back] to reset the drone to under your car. While in drone mode, your car will continue down the path. Also, if you detonate the drone, the explosion is significant, so try not to be right next to it when it blows.

"Escort Vehicle: x seconds" - These missions require you to drive next to your opponent for x amount of seconds. This is difficult at times as your opponent will speed up and slow down without much reason, but you must stay within the blue squares that appear on either side of the opponent's vehicle for x amount of seconds. There is an unseen time limit such that there is an end of the course for all of these missions.

"Force Opponent to Stop: x seconds" - You have to stop your opponent from moving for x amount of seconds, but you have to be right next to him when he stops, otherwise the timer doesn't start. On top of this, you have to remain as stationary as you can for the timer to keep going. The main strategy you should use when doing these missions is to either us a PIT maneuver to spin your opponent out and then pull your car in front of them or to T-Bone them up against a guardrail. The second is more dangerous as you'll take significant damage if you miss, but the first is more aggravating as the opponents recover very quickly so it's your call. These missions also have a end point that is almost never displayed, so you'll want t finish these missions quickly so you don't have to restart. ** NOTE: As frustrating as this can be, sometimes when your opponent is pinned, the game will reset them and you'll have to start over at stopping them. **

"Number of Collisions: x" - During these missions, you must touch your car to your opponent x amount of times. You don't have to slam into them, just touch them.

"Pursue Vehicle" - These missions require you to keep after your opponent with out them getting over the maximum distance away from you. If they do, a timer will appear for you to get back under the maximum distance.

"Ramp Jumps: y" - There are ramps littered across these missions. When encountering a ramp, your speedometer will have a small green triangle appear. Slow down or speed up to get your speedometer as close to this green triangle as possible and drive up the center of the ramp. This will count as one jump. The closer you are to the green triangle, the closer you'll be to landing a "Perfect Jump" on the ramp on the other side of most jumps. If you land a "Perfect Jump" this will count for twice as much. "Perfect Jumps" are thing that you should try to perfect as early as possible.

"Shadow Opponent" - In these missions, you must stay between a certain distance from your opponent until the end of the course (which isn't labeled most of the time). If you get to close, you have x amount of time to get further back. If you get to far away, speed up quickly as you have y amount of time to get back within the distance limit. If you so much as touch your opponent with your car, you will fail. ** NOTE: As difficulty increases, the difference between the minimum and maximum of distance between you and your opponent decreases. **

"Stop Opponent" - These missions have two parts. The first part is that there is normally a maximum distance that you can let your opponent get to before a timer appears to close the gap before you fail. The second is to stop your opponent. Different from the other missions, this one requires you to supply your opponent 100% damage. You can do the most damage to your opponent with T-Bone attacks, head-on collisions, and slamming your opponent into cars, trucks and scenery. If you do T-Bone your opponent, you can often keep driving against him to steadily increase the damage.

"x Stopping Checkpoints" - These checkpoint are red and require you to stop within the circle of light for y amount of time. You must hit all x of the stops to finish the mission.

"x Scattered Stopping Checkpoints" - These checkpoint are red and require you to stop within the circle of light for y amount of time. You must hit all x of the stops to finish the mission. These missions will take a while for you to find the best route since the checkpoints are scattered within the entire district with the waypoint arrow only pointing to the next closest in terms of distance, not ease. After finding all but the last checkpoint, the last checkpoint will appear for you to fully stop at.

"Take over Vehicle: x seconds" - These missions require you to drive next to your opponent for x amount of seconds. This is difficult at times as your opponent will speed up and slow down without much reason, but you must stay within the blue squares that appear on either side of the opponent's vehicle for x amount of seconds.

"Time Limit" - Time trial to finish the mission before the end of this time limit. These can involve a certain amount of checkpoints or the arrival of a destination or anything that would just require your timeliness.

"White Line Race" - Rather than checkpoints, these races have a white line painted in the mini-map. You must follow the path marked off for you. If you fall off of the path, a timer will appear and you'll have about 2 seconds to return before the game will automatically reset (the same as pressing [Back Button]). This will put you back on the road, but moving at 0 km/h.

"Winning Position: x" - This is used for races during the cases. You must be in position x by the end of the race. Sometimes it's first place, others it is second. If you are in any position other than x by the end of the race, you will fail and have to restart.
