To earn a relic, you must enter "time trial mode" for each level. Time trial mode will unlock for each level after you complete it. Go back and enter the level again, collect the stopwatch and time trial mode will start. Before you enter the level (while on the island level select screen), I would recommend pressing cn_LB to view the leaderboard for the level and see the target times for each tier of relic.

Each level has 3 tiers of relics, Sapphire, Gold, and Platinum, with the difficulty increasing in that order. For this achievement, you will need to complete each level in the game with a time fast enough to earn a GOLD relic. While working toward this achievement you will unlock two others.

    Tip from Isithrim:
There are 27 total levels in the game when including "Stormy Ascent". The level "Stormy Ascent" must be completed with a gold or better relic to earn.

Since you need to earn 26 total gold medals, it is recommended that you use this as one of them since you need to do it anyway for the previously mentioned achievement. You can then ignore one of the other remaining 26 levels that gives you a hard time.

Thanks to Isithrim for the additional tip 7/1/18
While progressing through this on my own, I found a great video guide that was created for the PS4 version of this game that will help anyone working toward acquiring all gold tier relics. I did not create either of these videos, all credit to their creators PS4 Trophies and RedPalmTree!

The hardest ones are "Road to Nowhere" and "The High Road"

I have made videos of my runs to help you guys out. Now the biggest thing is to learn how to jump and use the ropes effectively. This will require some practice but once you get used to the jumps it should come naturally.

The other thing I found useful is when you jump on the ropes hit "A" twice as if you were double jumping. This seems to keep crash on the ropes even if it looks like you will fall off.

In the video for "Road to Nowhere" you will notice around the 35 second mark where I stop and jump around for a few seconds. I found when you do this it gives you more time to jump over the warthog or goat whatever it is. I have found if you don't do this by the time you get to him it will be more difficult to get around him. If you don't he will be right at the beginning of the next section making it more than likely you can get hit.

Also, I use the analogue stick when playing if that helps anyone. I find I have better control with it on the ropes

Keep practising and don't give up!
