How to unlock the First Errand achievement

Unlocked when you complete the first side quest. The first side quests are obtained from the Resistance Camp. As you continue the game and make new areas available, other hub locations will also offer side quests.

The first opportunity to unlock occurs when normal story progression takes you to the Resistance Camp. Two side quests become available. The quest givers are marked with red downward pointing arrows. Choosing to complete either one will unlock the achievement. The Supply Trader's Quest is a little easier (but only slightly so) than the Weapon Dealer's request because you fight weaker enemies. Neither quest is difficult. The first two side quests are:

The Supply Trader's Request--Obtain a broken key, a broken circuit, and a small gear and deliver them to the supply trader: Open the in-game map. The quest marker will appear as a red dot. Proceed to that location and defeat the enemies. Interact with the drops to gather the quest materials. Return to the Resistance Camp and give them to the supply trader. This finishes the quest and, if it is the first quest completed, will unlock the achievement. Quest rewards include gold, experience, material items, and make plug-in chips available in the supply shop.

Note: When you interact with the supply trader, buy a cachet and 2 or 3 animal bait. This will be required for:
NieR: Automata BECOME AS GODS EditionAnimal RiderThe Animal Rider achievement in NieR: Automata BECOME AS GODS Edition worth 35 pointsAny animal ridden for 5 kilometers.

The Weapon Dealer's Request--Obtain 4 Complex Gadgets & deliver them to the weapons dealer: Open the in-game map. The quest marker will appear as a red dot. Proceed to that location and defeat the enemies. Interact with the drops to gather the quest materials. Return to the Resistance Camp and give them to the weapons dealer. This finishes the quest and, if it is the first quest completed, will unlock the achievement. Quest rewards include gold, experience, material items, and access to weapon shops.

Tip #1: Before spending money on weapons, you can get a heavy sword for free. Go to the factory. You will have to jump on a truck to get to an elevated section of ruined roadway. Go all the way to the end of the ruined roadway and drop down. There is a save point right at the entrance to the factory. Just go up a couple of flights of stairs to reach the point where you ended the prologue. You can get all of the items 2B had before she self-destructed as well as her heavy sword. It is standing up and easily visible.

Tip #2: You will get the Weapon Dealer's Request again during the second playthrough. Accept the quest but do not turn it in. This assumes you have bought all weapon shop weapons in your first playthrough--if so, you do not need access to the weapon dealer. This is the easiest way to get complex gadgets that are a very rare item. They are required to fully upgrade pods B and C. Five complex gadgets are easily obtainable as rewards from two side quests that become available in your third playthrough. The sixth may require a lot of work. Accepting this quest and not turning it in gives you four additional complex gadgets and allows you to fully upgrade your B or C pod during your second playthrough.

AllgorhythmUnfortunately, a number of people are having achievement glitching issues. I've had three so far, myself, though with different achievements. The first remedy when failing to pop an achievement would be to clear the cache.

Clearing the cache is done by pressing the cn_guide on the console for ten seconds. If you have a power brick, the light will change from white to orange. If you don't have a power brick make sure you wait a good ten seconds. To be on the safe side, after I have powered down in this manner, I unplug the power and wait for about 20 seconds. I reconnect the power, fire up the XBox, and continue with the game just before the point I had an issue.

In your case, because there are so many quests, clear the cache now. Just before you conclude the next quest--for example, when all you have to do is report back to the quest giver--make a save. If the achievement does not pop then, clear the cache and replay just the final part of the quest to see if that works.

On one occasion, I just had to clear the cache and not replay the associated part of the game. The achievement popped when I loaded up the save file that I created after the achievement had glitched on me.

RancidVessel14In case you didn't know, it's the only achievement (except for the plot achievements) that you can't buy in the "Trophy Shop"
