The achievement is unlocked by destroying 100 machines following successful hacking completions. Some of the larger and/or more complex enemies require multiple hacks to destroy or weakening by combat followed by a hack. If you do not have prior knowledge of hacking, the game has a brief tutorial in a story related hacking shortly after you gain control of 9S at the beginning of Chapter 1, Prologue during your second playthrough. The first successful hack will get you the following achievement:
The achievement can be unlocked early in the prologue by destroying 100 flying enemies. There are well over 100 flying enemies before 9S meets up with 2B. So, if you want to get the achievement out of the way early, hack as many of the enemies as possible. Face the enemy you want to hack, hold
until the hacking mini-game screen appears, and complete it for a successful hack. The advantage in getting the achievement out of the way early is because the hacking mini-games are easy at this point of the game. You are confronting the enemies in a narrow corridor so you can easily line them up for a hack. You do not have to get the 100 hacks quickly. You will have plenty of opportunities throughout the game to get them.
If some of your achievements have glitched, it is best not to work on this achievement until you can save your game. You can check your progress by pressing
, tabbing to System, and selecting play records. Hacking games completed will be the fifth item down on the left. Make a save when your total completed hacking games is just under 100. Work to bring your total to over 100. Note that not all completed hacking games result in the destruction of an enemy. So, use your best judgement to make allowances for those competed hacking games that did not destroy enemies.
If the achievement does not unlock when your play records are well over 100, you have probably experienced a glitch. If this happens, clear the cache. To do so, turn off the console by holding the
button on the console for at least ten seconds and then unplug the console for at least 20 seconds. Load the save you made when your completed hacking games were just under 100. Clearing the cache will most likely remedy the problem and you should earn the achievement when you destroy your 100th enemy by tracking. Use your play records as a guide taking into consideration those completed hacking games that did not destroy enemies.
