Just like the solution for The Sentinel, the easiest way to achieve this is to locate an extreme planet, find a safe place and buckle down, unless you want to attempt the harsh conditions. As of right now, this can be accomplished by staying in the safe space and simply waiting for the days to go by. Robust status is achieved after 20 days (sols) have gone by, which is the 7th milestone for Extreme Survival. The duration of one day will vary based on the planet. When I did this, one sol lasted between 11-12 minutes. Time will not pass if you are in the menus looking at discoveries, milestones, log, etc. Time WILL pass when looking in inventories if need be.

Andy AvenueCan confirm this works in a base, I built one on an extreme weather planet and waited inside. Achievement just popped for 20 days, now 12 more days to go

SyncTheTempestFor those wondering or confused, you must be on a planet where it says "Extreme" above your Hazard Protection bar 24/7. These planets usually have some sort of storm that will indicate the hazardous conditions are 2x-4x worse than the "normal" conditions. When a storm comes, it should then say "Extreme Storm."

I was on a radiation planet with an Extreme condition of 9.7 rads and when a storm came, it became 30.7 rads. You can check your Milestones under Extreme Survival to see if the SOLS progresses. In 5 minutes, I went from 1.2 to 1.4.

USS PrometheusI've dug a hole in the ground on an extreme planet, it's working well to hide out in as well as a base it seems.

A lot of good information in guides for both achievements already, but they're missing some stuff that I had to figure out on my own. Specifically, how to spot an "Extreme" planet and what to do if your progress isn't counting up.

The two easiest ways I found in spotting an "Extreme" planet were 1. From orbit if it says AGGRESSIVE SENTINELS in red text. or 2. On the planet it will say "EXTREME" above the hazard bar (the one that has either fire, toxic, freeze, poison).

At one point I was trying to finish up this achievement, but noticed my progress wasn't moving up. It turns out, if you die after making some progress, it resets, but the progress counter does not show that. In the case you were at 6.3 sols and die, you will have to redo those 6.3 sols in order for it to catch up and start showing progress again. I thought this might be the case and took a chance on an Aggressive Sentinels planet and left it overnight (I sat in one of those skinny bunkers you usually find in twos, on planets with weather you can also dig into the terrain and make yourself a hole that's deep enough to prevent any hazard damage). Woke up in the morning with both achievements after having already spent an hour there with no progress counting towards the numbers I already had.

If you want to leave this overnight, plug your controller into your xbox and rubberband one of the analog sticks. The important thing here is plugging the controller into the xbox and not just a power source. Plugging into a power source will cause the controller to go idle, even if rubberbanded. Plugging into the xbox will not.

Hope this helps fill in any missing information for those that are having any trouble with this achievement.

thanatos8285Thank you for this. Got 10.3 sols into it, got bored, and decided to test the patience of a sentinel walker, which ended poorly. Returned to the original spot and could NOT figure out why the exact same planet was no longer counting. In retrospect it makes sense that dying would reset the counter on a “survive X amount of time” milestone, but I was freaking out that it was a glitch.

Once you find an extreme planet I found the least boring method is to build a base to keep the sentinels and weather out. Once you have a base you can shoot the sentinels from the doorway and they will not shoot back.
As you play through the game you will progress towards the achievement every time you visit your main base to refine resources or store inventory. After 20 sols the achievement will unlock.

Pro tip- Solar panels work inside buildings to power your portal.
