Ok this is a simple guide. I completely understand if you are looking for a strategy to do this. This guide will not help you with strategy, this is only provided to obtain the achievement in co-op.

    Play co-op.
Have your co-op partner make it to round three.
When your partner is down to a couple zombies, join the game at the end of round 3.
Once round 4 starts the achievement will unlock, provided you did not get hit.

InigoMontoya801-4. Remember my solution is co-op based. It could in theory be done solo, but the game design is structured to be played co-op.

iMaginaryythere was just confusion because in the solution you say round 3 which in the game's terms would mean 15 waves (round 1), 15 waves (round 2), 15 waves (round 3), and then achievement pops in 4-1 after completing 45 waves. A round is 15 waves in this game :)

This is definitely doable solo on excavation, I just did it myself. There's some obvious strategies such as kiting the enemies around the map and on the upper ledge that leads to the 10k door. Make use of the two traps to take out as many enemies as possible. You should also use an amulet that has a good area of effect attack. And use grenades as much as possible.

Also you might not have noticed but when there's an enemy getting close behind you a zombie hand pops up at the bottom of the screen as a part of the HUD. (I'm not sure if it does this 100% of the time)

I had been using Frank Fairburne in the campaign so I used him here(I like the head explosion perk). The amulet I used was Deadly eye of Horus, which one hit kills 6 enemies if they're close by in front of you. I'm sure there's a bunch of other good combos. Gracie's fast explosive perk would come in handy, and her raging bull amulet move is pretty op, but you can be hit while it's activated so be careful with that one.

Wave 1: just kite and use pistol, traps, and grenade. Might want to save amulet for beginning of wave 2. Only enemies here are basic zombies

Before wave 2 I bought the Chamberlain Auto rifle (700 gold)

Wave 2: kite, traps, grenades. Might want to start using the upper ledge here and funnel enemies to the spinning blade trap.
Enemies: regular zombie, armored sword zombies, the armored ones shoot acid at you sometimes so watch out for that.

Before wave 3 I spent 3000 gold on the random weapon crate that gives you a powerful 3rd weapon, I was lucky and got the scarab launcher.

Wave 3: same strategies as 2
Enemies: regular zombie, armored zombie, mummy The mummies have the underground ranged attack that you have to watch out for. After kiting a bit and using grenades and my amulet ability, I funneled the rest into the area leading up to the upper ledge/walkway, and unloaded my scarab launcher.

At the end of wave 3 the achievement should unlock.
Main thing is to watch out for the ranged attacks. I hope this helped.

SpeleoFoolDunno if it was just coincidence, but I did this with Anjali Khan and neither this nor the "golden door" achievement popped. Quit the game and replayed as Frank & got both. Seems silly that using a DLC character might be a problem, but figured I'd leave a comment, in case.

It might also have been a bug in my session (from Series X quick resume), or maybe "Restart Mission" doesn't work. Regardless, I got it my 2nd run.

BTW, great strategy. I didn't look for a guide until I ran into trouble above, but I had independently worked out the same general approach including the ledge and buying the Chamberlain and a gun from the box. The one difference is that I camped at the top of the stairs pretty much the whole time starting with round 2.

I just burst fired the Chamberlain at head-height and held back the tide with splash damage from headshots, then rolled grenades down the stairs when the crowd got thick, or to take out mummies. There are 2-3 guys who spawn up on that ledge at the beginning of Round 2, but other than that it's clear. If you keep left you can avoid projectiles, but still see the stairs to shoot to mob there. If they get too close for comfort, slowly back up toward the $10k door, then jump off to the right once everyone is on the ledge. Loop around again to the top of the stairs.
