returning players: This achievement can still be unlocked
if you have already completed the requirements on another platform (
Steam, Epic, Playstation, Stadia). Setting up
Cross-Save through
bungie.net will automatically unlock this achievement (along with any others completed) upon logging in on
Xbox/Windows.
If the achievement
still doesn't unlock even after completing the requirements, you can also try the
Switch Profile method (
Character Menu (
)-->
Settings (
x2)-->
Gameplay (
x3)-->
Switch Profile). This will prompt you to
select your account to re-login, which should force unlock any completed achievements.

This is more of an updated info guide, as Destiny 2 has undergone several changes to its systems over the years, including its Nightfall system. I will update this solution periodically, if and when the strikes are available as part of the seasonal rotation.
- This achievement requires certain pieces of content to be selected by the developers as part of seasonal updates. As such, this achievement may become temporarily unobtainable for long/unknown periods of time, unless the requirements have already been completed on another platform (See note regarding Cross-Save above).
- This achievement will require ownership of the Forsaken Pack, which must be purchased separately from the base game.
- If you purchased the Forsaken expansion on any platform prior to the launch of The Witch Queen expansion in 2022, the Forsaken Pack will be automatically given to you on the respective platform.
---------------------------------
---------------------------------
This achievement requires you to complete a
Forsaken-era strike when it is the selected
Nightfall of the week.
- As of the release of the Lightfall expansion, Nightfalls are Strikes and/or Battleground activities that are given increased difficulty and gameplay modifiers on a weekly rotation.
- They are located in the Vanguard section of the Destinations tab in the Director.
- The lowest difficulty these strikes can be is Hero (1770 Power), which has a low-level barrier for entry (1750 Power) and matchmaking for up to 3 people.
Each 3-month Season of the game,
6 Strikes/Battlegrounds are selected for Nightfall rotation, rotating weekly throughout the season. With upwards of
20 Strikes/Battlegrounds in the game, this means that
a Forsaken strike is not guaranteed to appear during a Season.
The developers (Bungie) have also started placing Battlegrounds in Nightfall rotation more frequently, so the chance of seeing a Forsaken-era strike as a Nightfall is expected to
decrease with future seasons.
As of the Witch Queen expansion in 2022, there are now only
2 strikes that fit the criteria for this achievement:
- The Corrupted - Dreaming City
- Warden of Nothing - Prison of Elders, Tangled Shore (Due to the removal of the Tangled Shore destination, this strike is now listed under the Dreaming City destination.)
If one of these strikes is in the rotation for a season, you just need to complete the Nightfall on whatever week it is selected. If none of the strikes you need are selected for the current season, you will have to wait until (at least) the next season for another chance to complete this achievement.---------------------------------
---------------------------------
It is also possible to play a Forsaken-era strike as a
Grandmaster Nightfall outside of rotation during a season. However,
this still requires a Forsaken-era strike to be amongst those selected for the season AND
it is currently unconfirmed if completing a Forsaken Nightfall outside of rotation will award this achievement.
Information is listed below in the Spoiler tag.
Proceed at your own risk.*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***
Players who have acquired the Conqueror seal in-game (awarded for completing every Nightfall strike of a Season on the hardest Grandmaster difficulty) have access to a "catch-up" node that allows them to play any Grandmasters they haven't yet completed that season, regardless of rotation.
- This node is provided to those who want to gild their Seal, which requires re-completing all the Strikes for the current season.
- This node does not activate until later in the season (Week 7), after Grandmasters have been activated (Week 4).
- After the player completes a specific Grandmaster of the season through this node, the strike will no longer be available for them outside of standard rotation. They can still join others through *their* respective nodes.
Long story short, if you play with another player who has access to this node, you can play a Forsaken-era strike IF:
- It has been included with the seasonal rotation,
AND
- The player with access to the node has not yet completed that Grandmaster during the season.
BUT this comes with a big caveat:
You will be playing the strike on Grandmaster difficulty, the HIGHEST difficulty given to Nightfall strikes.
- This difficulty requires a fairly high level in order to simply ENTER (1800 Power) and will also CAP your level at 1815 Power. No Power over this threshold will provide any benefit.
- Enemies will hit as hard as possible, scaling up to 1840 Power.
- Multiple other modifiers can also be active (such as no radar, enemies drop hazards on death, etc). There are some helpful modifiers in the form of damage-increasing Surges and Overcharges, but it's not much.
- Revives are very limited and are only given after defeating Champions, tougher enemies that require specific weapons/abilities to stun/kill. The available weapon types for stunning Champions will also change with each season.
- If your entire team dies, or you run out of revives, the strike will END and you will need to start over.
- Loadouts will be locked upon entry, and the strike will require a GOOD setup and GOOD teammates to pull off. Refer to the guides for The Prestige achievement for more information.
Again, the methods involving the Grandmaster gilding node have not yet been confirmed to award the achievement, so attempt at your own risk.
