How to unlock the Bountiful achievement

Firstly, turn autosave off and make a back up save as you need to play honourably to unlock missions for Lending a Hand.

There are five states but you only need four for this achievement, according to comments below, so thanks for the feedback:

    1. Lemoyne (do this last)
    2. New Hanover
    3. Ambarino
    4. West Elizabeth

For New Austin, you automatically have $250 bounty here by default due to events in Blackwater mentioned in the prologue and chapter one. It is possible to remove this bounty later in the game and comments say they did not/cannot get another bounty in New Austin, so don't worry about that state.

To get a bounty, head into a town and cause chaos by shooting people and animals. It doesn't matter if you die when you are obtaining a bounty, the time only matters when you have all 5 bounties active.

Ambarino can be a bit tricky as there is not a major town so kill someone on your way there, mount them to your horse and then when you see another civilian, they will alert the authorities.

EDIT: Maxumulli0n has suggested an alternative way to get a bounty in Ambarino:
For Ambarino, stand near the train tracks heading east to west and stop the train in Ambarino. Eventually, the sheriff's will get alerted and take out as many as you can to get your bounty up.
There are several comments below for Ambarino alternatives as it can be quite tricky. Thanks to everyone who made suggestions.

The last one is Lemoyne and I recommend going to Rhodes for this. Rhodes has a mill at the north-western part of town. Head there and to the room inside, going up the ramp. Use the sawn-off shotgun on the authorities that enter from the ramp or climbing up the ledge to the left. Once you have at least $250, let them kill you.

Once you respawn, head to the saloon and rent the room. Sleep 18 hours twice (max allowed) and then go upstairs and play blackjack for about 5 minutes. Head back downstairs and rent the room again, sleep for 18 hours and it should unlock. If not, sleep again.

You can not be attacked by bounty hunters whilst playing a mini-game, and they never started a pursuit whilst I was in the saloon. I stayed there for another 4 days after the achievement unlocked and nobody came.

dL x VaDeRI have a tip for Ambarino. Get a train from anywhere to Annesburg and from here sit on the train and wait until it gets to where you need. Start shooting on the train when ready and then eventually the law will arrive.

LoneBombermanThis achievement was easier than I thought it would be. I did this after I fully completed the game. Saved at Beecher's Hope and went on a rampage in Tumbleweed, Blackwater, Ambarino, and Saint Denis. Ambarino wasn't that difficult to get a bounty. Shot a person riding a horse and got a $5 bounty. Stood on a hill and waited for bounty hunters and then it was easy to get the $250.

I then rested as long as possible rode to a different location and did the same thing. I was surprised that nobody was coming after me. I stayed away from towns and if I saw a red line that shows someone is tracking me, I rode in the opposite direction. Waited until I can sleep again and slept for the maximum time and got the achievement.

Since I completed the game I had plenty of tonics, food, and ammo to keep both me and Thunderstruck, my Arabian Rose Gray May alive.

Dr MartyAmbarino definitely IS a problem. Perhaps not a big one, but for sure an annoying one. Tried the train strategy, but was apparently too far away from population centers, so even though a crime was reported, no one came. Tried holding up strangers, but instead of reporting crimes, they shot back. Took a long while to finally get the law on me...

What finally worked is to kill someone and wait over their dead body. Loot them when somebody else rides by...

I can not do any better than how LuckyConquerer2 has done his guide. I just thought I'd post a guide to which one and in what order. Suggestions before you start, have a good horse, bring the ammo, tonics, and whatever else you fancy. If you are stopping off at a town, make your horse accessible so you can make a quick getaway.

Start in Ambarino and go on the lower path which runs parallel to the train tracks. Kill the first guy you encounter, and stow him on your horse. Ride along and meet your witnesses, who can then get you the law and bring them to the train tracks. Kill as many as you can, and kill anybody who happens to come by train. It was here where I noticed that after the second train, they seemed to stop throughout which was useful. This will also be your longest one due to the low frequency of travelers.
Once you hit $250, time to move onto Valentine to get a stagecoach.

Go to Armadillo in New Austin. Kill a random cholera infected person, stow again, and make way to Macfarlane's Ranch. Hopefully along the way you will bump into more people who can help get you some heat. Reach your $250 mark, move onto Strawberry! I risked the bounty hunters and rode to it, but however you get there is fine.

When you get to Strawberry, stand at one of the four corner exits to the town. Here you can kill who you need without worrying as much about where they are coming from as you only have 3 directions. Make Strawberry strawberry coloured on your mad rage, get to $250, and move to Valentine.

Should be a quick dash to Valentine, but as you did with Strawberry choose a spot (I went by the sheep auction) and go for it. Get your $250 bounty and get out of there heading towards Rhodes.

If, like me, you are worried about Bounty Hunters I would highly advice riding along the train tracks. Never saw a single one this way.

Stop in Rhodes by the tracks (for quick getaway means), and start to shoot up the place. Once you hit $250 you do need to move. Stay along the tracks and head to St Denis.

St Denis is your last stop. When you get here, head to a local saloon. Hire a room, rent a bath, play some poker, sleep as much as you can and hopefully your achievement pops up like mine did half way through a sleep.

Again, like me, if you then leave the saloon and mess up going to the station to pay off what is accumulated in bounty ($1600 for me) by running over a pedestrian who didn't look where they are going! You will need to head up to Van Horn or Rhodes as St Denis goes on immediate lock down.

    Hope this helps someone.
