This one gave me a runaround for hours before I (think) I figured it out. I have a substantial number of the "Geology and anomalies" section, which is contained within the "Biological and geological" discoveries. However, the achievement didn't pop until I had five specifically in "Organic Structures". The following will be what I can discern as probably one of the quicker ways to get this achievement.

BD-12 1172, the Spirograph Nebula, contains at least: Solid Mineral Spheres, Lattice Mineral Spheres, Flavus Metallic Crystals, Rubeus Metallic Crystals, and Viridans Gourd Molluscs. You'll see some "Notable Stellar Phenomena" in the sidebar after a discovery scan. Each one contains a different mix of the required phenomena. Being about 1100ly from popular destinations Shinrarta and Sol, it's probably one of, if not the, best choices to get this knocked out quick. Because of the permit locked systems sometimes screwing up the routing, you may need to get a bit close to the nebula before actually making a route directly to the system.

If you have any issues or additions, lemme know. It may be only biological ones count, or you could need five from both biological and geological (ergo, maybe that or was supposed to be an and). Be helpful to know for sure. Duly note that scanning the actual phenomena themselves is performed with the composition scanner, and a Detailed Surface Scanner can reveal phenomena from orbit, supposedly (never tested this myself).

TheAnonymityThis is slightly confusing to me. How do we actually go about getting these entires in the codex? What do you need to do this? Surface Scanner, FSS....?

CodeMonkeysGuyThe ones I have listed are spacefaring entries, so ship scanners are your tool for this. SRV scanners are used for ground-based entries. I forget exactly which ship scanner it is, it's been a hot minute since I was on Elite; but it's built in, and you only have like, two or three built in scanners on your ship. So it'll be narrowed down pretty quick.

TheAnonymityI'm sorry--I feel so stupid. I only read part of the solution. If you figure out how to get the geo/bio-logical scans that show up on planets too, that would be great to add. I can't quite seem to figure out how. Aimlessly wandering even a small planet would take days or weeks. Perhaps a Surface Scanner (DSS) is needed?

KujiGhostLate comment, but can confirm a Detailed Surface Scan does indeed reveal Biological, Geological and Xenological features from orbit, allowing you to target them and easily find them on the surface.

SashamorningWent to the system, only found 3 NSP, and in those only 4 entries. I checked the whole system. Those were around planets 2, 6, and 10. Maybe those were the only ones in that system and I need to find one more. In any case, there were definitely 4 in that system. Thanks! toast

Also, I HATE the Col 70 sector. Why do they force us to go all the way around? I found that I could get there by shooting for the Witch's Head Nebula and going right through.

CodeMonkeysGuyYeah I should have written down exact locations at the time, frankly. It's been a year and a half since I scraped by with this one so I don't remember a single one of the locations... but I do know for a fact that five unique Organic Structures do exist in this one system.

SashamorningI believe you... I just can't find them. Beautiful system, though. Wow! Worth the trip!

SashamorningGoing off what MassimilianoM said, I found 2 NSPs at Synuefe MZ-J B27-1 at popped the achievement. Both are near the planet Synuefe MZ-J B27-1 ABCD 2.

The system is roughly on the route between the bubble and BD-12 1172, so you can hit them both on the same trip.

gamepIayxMight wanna edit the guide to specify that you have to scan them with the composition scanner.

The GlobalizerBy the way, if you're trying to scan a surface signal, this is how you do it, since it's wildly unclear:

    1. Land your ship.
    2. Get in your SRV.
    3. Make sure your Composition Scanner is assigned to a fire group. (Mine wasn't.)
    4. Find interesting shit nearby - note that the "Geological Signal" (etc.) is an area, not a scannable object. Scannable interesting shit will change the Composition Scanner icon blue and say "ready to scan".
    5. Aim at the interesting shit and pull the trigger in analysis mode. You should get a notification of the info added to your codex and some rewardy things.
