    This Achievement cannot be missed.

    *Spoilers Below*

Once you’ve lit the fire at the base of Joseph’s statue return to Ethan at the compound. There’ll be a cutscene where the people praise you wanting you to go north to bring back Joseph. Ethan is convinced his old man is dead and wants you to bring back proof so his people will follow him instead. He has you drink a concoction which they say will protect you on your journey north and you pass out.

When you awake you’re in a boat shed with Ethan. Talk to him and he’ll explain you need to take the boat north and light fires along the way to keep you safe.

Get in the boat provided - it also has a store of infinite fire arrows to help you out - and begin heading along the river to the first waypoint. Continue to follow the river north and you’ll start to pass through chard lands loaded with bliss and purple torches.

When the torches stop and the bliss gathers, you’ll start to take small amounts of damage. Up ahead you can see a pyre that needs to be lit. Release controls of the boat and take out your bow, then navigate to the fire arrows and shoot at the pyre. Wait a moment to see if it has caught and if not try again until it has. The boat provides infinite ammo so don’t worry too much. If you’re having trouble drive a bit closer - the bliss hurts but it’s very slow to kill so you can get quite close and still take your shot and survive.

Once this first pyre is lit, get closer to the gate and leave the boat. If you head around the other side of the bridge you can see a watermill that operates the gate. There’s also a note with story information on it on your way. Go to it and activate the control at the centre of its base before heading back to your boat and continuing forward.

Soon you’ll come to the next pyre high on a ledge. This one is much easier to light if you get a bit closer and again, though the bliss hurts it does so very slowly. Light it and keep going.

The next pyre will force you to drive the boat through the bliss for a while before you can light it. Do so and continue.

Bliss will start to gather again but there isn’t anything to light for this section. Keep going forward until you come to the gate where torchers will resume and you’ll be safe from the poison. Get off the boat to the left of the gate and walk up the path. There’s another beacon here to light and there are wolves. Light it quickly and deal with or run from the wolves. They won’t follow you into the water so you can always run back to the river if they’re causing problems.

On the opposite side of the river and gate is another watermill opening mechanism. This time you not only need to flip the switch but clear the debris from the mill to have it open the gate.

Come back to the boat and get in to continue further up the river. You’ll come into bliss filled territory but keep heading for the waypoint and there’ll be another beacon to ignite at the end of your journey. It feels like it has you go in a fair way before you get to this but your health will last so keep heading forward.

Get out of your boat to the right and head up the path to the house. Once you interact with the front door here this mission will begin.

Joseph Seed is waiting for you in the house and he talks about how he’s waited for someone to come find him and fulfil the prophecy for a long time. He’ll then have you walk with him up to a tree by a waterfall.

Follow Joseph up to the tree and he will give you an apple to eat to prove your worth. The apple grants power but it’s also a drug. You’ll pass out after taking a bite and awaken in a new area where you need to fight a radioactive bear.

Walk along the path and a bear will appear. You’re armed with a bow and you need to shoot the bear in the belly whenever it rears up - it usually does so just after an attack and you can regenerate health by running away so this really isn’t too dangerous.

After two or three shots to the belly you’ll knock off the first section of his health. The landscape will go dark and your arrows will change to fire arrows. You need to light the four beacons around the area before you can continue shooting the bear - it will chase you so keep moving as you light the pyres. They emit a faint pink/purple glow even when not lit so you can locate them in the dark.

The bear will disappear for a second as the area turns back to the green haze. Then he will return and you’ll need to repeat the same process of shooting him until the next health bar is gone until the land goes dark and you need to light the fires again.

Now you’ll find a new power and the area will be surrounded with a yellow-orange tone. Your bow is gone so you need to punch the bear to death. Each solid hit you manage will send the bear flying and he’ll reappear and you’ll need to punch him again.

Once you’ve hit the bear enough times everything will go black and Joseph will explain that this power is too great for some. The two of you will return to New Eden where Joseph is welcomed back by the community other than Ethan.

Talk to Joseph after this cut scene and he and promises to have his people fight the highwaymen so they’ll be distracted from attacking your people. He will also allow you to use his Judge as one of your guns fire hire. He doesn’t talk much and is a silent bow killer useful for stealth takedowns. You’ll also unlock a new list of perks to redeem.

GerbasgamerIt's not really the 9th story mission as you can choose to play others before this.
For comparison I've already completed 14 story missions, so this would be my 15th.
