  Just unlocked this. What I did was read all her messages, called her whenever I had the chance too (do not forget you can call her in the prologue after going through the wooden gates). If she calls, respond. Sometimes you need to call her yourself. When do you know when to call her? Whenever the game shows a beacon/satellite icon in the left bottom corner of the screen, it means you have connection on your phone. That's when you should try to call her. If you did it correctly, it's going to unlock at the beginning of Chapter 16, right after...

  I feel the cellphone conversations are a bit odd for this game. If it was called "Scary Woods Demon" that would be fine, but this is the same reality as the movie? The kids get completely lost and isolated and don't realize they can use the sun as a compass. Having tiny phone breaks to catch up with the gf seems out-of-tone.
  
  Maybe it makes sense by the end. Right now the calls just seem out of place. Especially since he doesn't tell girlfriend about or finding or PTSD flashbacks or .

  Off topic: I agree with Wolf, this whole b-plot felt weird and underdeveloped which is unfortunate considering the potential the concept had.

  Here are all of the times I interacted with Jess.
  
  *Answered her call in the car - SHAME FOR TALKING WHILE DRIVING
  *After the fence, Jess texts and I call her back.
  *Bullet takes me through tall grass. Jess calls soon after.
  *After I fix the truck battery, Jess texts and I call her back.
  *After I found Lanning, I called Jess. (This needs to happen quickly before you get to the dry stream.)
  *After the battle, while I'm on the rail tracks, I called Jess.
  *After I ride the rails and the bridge collapses, Jess calls.
  *After I get to the sawmill and get reception, I called Jess.
  ***IMPORTANT: After you've gone through the fog, after the stag sequence, there's a VERY small window where you get reception. Call Jess. You'll leave a voicemail.
  *Note: During the Twisted Maze, you'll get a bad call from Jess. Don't worry.
  
  This will pop after a cutscene during the transition to the 4th campsite.

  Did everything here except the call after finding Lanning and when I got to the saw mill (it was so soon after the bridge collapse I didn't think to do it) and the achievement still unlocked. Of course it does not hurt to do it, just to be safe.

  Here is a great video I found showing all locations and texts where interaction with Jess can occur.
  
  There are a total of 16 texts/calls that need to be experienced. In some cases, the text must be read before the phone call can be made (example - just after the dog training). Make sure you read all the texts before you call when you get the signal again after the battery is fixed.
  
  During my first play thru, I missed one phone call after the long grass part, and I didn't read the text spam until later in the game, but I got every other interaction but I still failed. Therefore, I feel that you must make EVERY interaction possible in order to get this achievement.
