This might sound easy at first, but it's not - it is difficult; I've had about 3 close calls trying to obtain this achievement.

Prelude to War contains several missions, the first 6-7 involves automatic switching between the 3 factions after each successful mission. The order, if I remember correctly, is thus:

1) Europe (Battle)
2) USA (Battle)
3) Europe (Conquest)
4) Russia (Siege)
5) USA (Siege)
6) Europe (Conquest)
7) Russia (Conquest)*

* This mission is titled Finishing Move, the mission in which one can go for the Impregnable achievement.

After this, you've realized you haven't gotten the achievement yet and are wondering why. Sadly, you have 2 more missions to go yet to finish Prelude to War. However, upon reaching this point, you're allowed to choose which faction you want to play as throughout the game. Europe, according to some gamers, seems to be the popular choice. Go figure.

The last two missions are a Raid mission, and then a Conquest mission that introduces DEFCON:

In Raid, you have to take out over half of the targeted buildings within the allotted time. For this mission, you can capture at least 1 uplink and upgrade it for air support (AKA Air Strikes). This becomes a lifesaver if you're low on reserves, as you can call an air strike on the targeted buildings for 4 CP's. I was down to my command vehicle and only had 2 reserves left after blowing up 2 target buildings with a 3rd one weakened. I sent combat drones at the 3rd building while initiating air strikes as the enemy had their units nearby.

For the final mission (Conquest), you have to capture over half the of the uplink sites OR destroy all of the enemy's forces to trigger Hostile Annihilation. The catch - once you capture more uplink sites than your opponent, it triggers DEFCON - both sides will be able to either crash an uplink or (More seriously) summon a WMD strike on each other, with the losing side allowed to go first. Personally, I captured 3 uplink sites and, while carefully attempting to seize a 4th one, held my ground and took on the enemy forces until I triggered Hostile Annihilation.

Overall tips:

1) Remember which units are most effective against the other: Tanks trump Transports, Transports trump Gunships, Gunships trump Tanks, etc. If you know what's coming, you can plan accordingly to counter the hostile units.

2) PLAY SMART! Don't just go charging after the enemy if they're pulling back, because they'll lead you into an ambush against units most likely able to kill yours. Pull back and wait for the enemy to come to you. Also, if you're in an open or semi-open area and units heading towards you are superior to yours (IE, enemy tanks heading for your transports), order a retreat to move to a safer location. If they don't see you, they may not follow you, allowing you to regroup and prepare a counterattack.
