This has to be done in one run.

There are three enemy types that randomly appear in levels: Bats, Mummies, and Snakes. The usual way to get past them is to find single use Arrows (or rarely the Machete) to kill them.

To unlock this achievement, you must kill five Bats without killing any Mummies or Snakes. Should a Snake or Mummy be blocking your path, you'll have to use Dynamite to blast through a wall to get around them so that you don't kill them.

metallicafan459from the Win 8 guide it seems that works - otherwise people had luck after level 30

    CosminiionAdvice:
    - Keep launching a New Game over and over until you get a bat in the very first level.
    - Prioritize using Pickaxes over Dynamites whenever possible to get by non-bat enemies.
    - If there are enemies in a level, but none are bats, avoid arrows and machetes at all costs during that level. One stupid thing or another is going to happen and you'll end up accidentally killing a non-bat enemy, ruining your run for this achievement. If there is a mix of bats and other enemy types in a level, only collect exactly as many arrows as there are bats (still avoid the machete) and be extra careful with your every move, especially around the non-bat enemies.
    - Sometimes you can get this bug with the bonus stage whereby you end the bonus stage and instead of continuing the level from the bonus stairs, the whole level resets and you're placed back at the start. You can make your way back to the bonus stairs and access the bonus stage again. If there is a bat enemy in such a level and you're thinking of using this bug to repeatedly kill that one bat for this achievement, don't bother, it won't work. That bat will still count as a single kill at the end of the level.

ARAHN1I can confirm that you can die, still use an amulet and obtain this achievement. It just happened to me today.

    Welcome

Here is the easiest way to get this done:

When you reach a level with shop like 2, 6, 11, 16 etc... and there is a bat that you can kill without killing any other monsters go kill it and kill yourself afterwards use the amulet to spawn and you will be on not a similar level but a level with same creatures from before as i believe rinse and repeat until you cant see any more bats on that level.

afrekYou must of got lucky or it was patched, respawned using the Amulet twice on two different levels that had bats on and was put back on a different map with no creatures both times.
