    Video guide:

You can be allianced with a crew doing all the work, and you will still get the achievement.

There have been multiple reports of the Fort of the Damned commendations not tracking or unlocking for this, this might affect the achievements as well. There has been a hotfix to solve this problem, but that didn't fully fix it. So far a workaround seems to be to be the crew that starts and clears the fort, and have someone on your crew be alive the entire time.

Alactar also says that everyone shooting out to sea and mermaiding back before opening the vault makes the game correctly count the fort completion. This was confirmed by 'Cower Before me' in the comments.

    Text guide:
    - talk to Duke, buy a Skull Seeker voyage from him
    - voyage will lead you to an island to kill a skeleton captain
    - captan will drop a villainous skull and a letter, which will point to another island with x-marks-the-spot map
    - dig up ritual skull using above map
    - now collect all six lantern colors from the ferry of the damned, by dying to all six relevant threats (preferably while you're doing the above steps to save time), being 1) pink - killed by other player 2) purple - killed by snake venom or kraken ink 3) green - killed by skeleton 4) white - killed by lightning 5) blue - killed by shark or megalodon 6) red - killed by volcano OR FIRE
    - go to the 'fort of the damned' marked on the map (converted Old Boot Fort I believe)
    - light all six ferryman lanterns in the main fort room
    - sacrifice the ritual skull (place it on the headless skeleton in the cage in the back) to start the fort
    - 'shadow of fate' skeletons will spawn in waves, their color corresponds to the lantern color they are vulnerable to - similar to regular shadow skeletons, only with a specific lantern light color
    - boss wave will feature Ghost of Greymarrow, with his usual attacks from Tall Tale chapter 8 (earthquake smash with two chests, gun, teleport)
    - Greymarrow will drop a red fort key when killed, and unlock the achievement
    - open vault with key, collect massive loot, betray everyone in your alliance, etc.
    toast

    Additional notes:
The FotD vault key is marked on the map for everyone on the server, until the vault is opened with it.
The Loot Despawn Timer can cause the vault contents to disappear , after roughly 2 hours after starting the FotD, if everyone dies at the same time. You will still get the achievement for opening the vault, though.

AbsconderI was in an alliance, 2 of the boats in the alliance were doing the fort I was doing my own thing. Anyway I decided I’d sail over to them to see how they were doing, I ran in shot the final boss 2 times then sailed away again. Got the achievement when the final boss was killed 😂
