The achievement is story related and unmissable. It unlocks when you install a power regulator on your ship. You acquire the power regulator by completing the first two story missions:
Stranger in a Strange Land and
Comes Now the Power. They are interconnected and are performed simultaneously. There are different ways of completing them that have consequences later in the game and affect other achievements. However, all alternatives provide the player-character with the power regulator which, when installed in its receptacle on the ship, pops the achievement.
The decisions that provide you, the player, with the most latitude later in the game are:
- Divert the power to Edgewater
- Convince the deserters to return to Edgewater
- Allow Reed to remain in charge resulting in Adelaide remaining at the Botanical lab
