Notes for par scores on all levels:
Par scores are heavily influenced by par time.
Note: Competitive Score shows the time multiplier bonus; Regular Score does not. The time multiplier bonus still exists in Regular Score, it only shows up at the end of the mission. With Regular Score, you may not see the time bonus, especially on longer missions (credit: EaseAndInspire)

During "par time" all scoring is tripled.

After "par time", you have 10 minutes where your multiplier goes from 3.00x down to 1.00x. For example, if you kill an elite for a pop up of "+200", the score will show 600 during par time, but then will trickle back down to 200 when the multiplier goes down to 1.00x (and will be 400 if the multiplier is at 2.00x).

After the "ten minute down to 1.00x" period, one of two things happen:
    1. You get a 2nd grace period, of about 10 more minutes. Multiplier is already at 1.00x so nothing else happens with it.
    2. All positive scoring is done. All kills show up as red "0", but you will still lose points for dying, team kills, or checkpoint resets.

After that (Par time + 10-minutes + possible grace period), all positive scoring is done no matter what. Negative scoring is still active.
If you've already achieved the par score, you'll still have to beat the level while making sure you don't have enough negative scoring (deaths) to go below it.

    For this specific mission:

    Level: Long Night of Solace
    Par Time: 25:00 minutes
    Par Score: 45,000
    Difficulty: Heroic

Skulls: Catch, Famine, Fog, Thunderstorm, Tilt, and Cowbell (non-scoring but accelerates explosions)

At the beginning of the mission, stay left and sprint ahead to the end. You'll quickly come up to 4 grunts - try to take them out with a grenade for some easy kills. Once you reach the door, you only need to kill the enemies at the door. The elite is the hardest, plus a few grunts and shielded jackals. After killing them, then most of you're scoring will be done in the space battle. However, right before you jump in the ship, pick up that sword in the hallway.

So the goal for my was to get 135,000 points during the space battle so that way I would be covered (Par score of 45,000 x 3 = 135,000). There are a ton of enemies and as long as you don't die your points will keep on coming.
The 2nd part of the space battle involves a Covenant Corvette. As soon as this part starts (you regain control of your ship) dive down for about 6 seconds and then look forward. You'll face the docking station of the Corvette and kill 5-8 banshees right away. Instead of destroying the Corvette's 4 engines, keep killing enemy ships. Once you have a good buffer (150,000 points or more) or you run out enemies, proceed with the rest of the mission. Once you dock on the Corvette, remember that sword you picked up. You can use to easily dispatch the elites in the first section.

You'll likely run out of time for scoring because this is a LONG level, but you should have enough points banked from destroying enemy ships. Good luck!

EaseAndInspireNice guide, but can you explain this part,,?

I got to 35000 pts then when inside the ship and got the remaining points I needed, ran out of time so I started getting zeros for kills, but came out with 45,200...not sure why you think there's math involved... The score is the score?

WabaliciousHi EaseAndInspire - I hope this answers your question:

Please note: There are a two options for scoring, Competitive Score and Score. I wrote the guide based on Competitive Score, and will update that in the guide. Even if you elect to show only Score, the points system and time multiplier is still based on how long you take to complete the level.

I took this explanation directly off of Halo Waypoint:
Basically, Competitive Scoring shows what your Score would be if you finished the Level at that Instant. Regular Scoring shows the Skull & Difficulty Multipliers only. Once you complete the Level in Regular Scoring, you'll see that it get multiplied by the Time Bonus in the Report, giving you a slightly Higher Score.

So if you had beaten the level before 25 minutes, you would see a time multiplier added after completing the mission.

VeryMetalChewieDefinitely no need to be on heroic for this. Totally doable on normal, with only 3 skulls ( Catch, Famine and Thunderstorm), and I'd describe myself as a mediocre Halo player at best.
