This is for turning in all 5 different Tomes of Power (they're named with Roman numerals, I through V), which are randomm drops in Ashen Chests. These chests can only be unlocked with Ashen Keys.

You can get Ashen Keys from 'Key Masters', which are skeleton captains that spawn randomly on islands, or during skeleton fort boss waves. The roaming ones are easiest to find on smaller islands, and they have a red particle glow to them. They will drop a key when killed, as well as a Villainous Skull. While you can also get an Ashen Key from Key Masters on active skull forts, roaming captains are the easiest way to get Ashen Keys.
There's also a small chance to 'catch' a key while fishing without bait, similar to catching Treacherous Plunder (i.e. plank, old boot, old skull, fish bones).

You can get Ashen Chests several ways:

1) From the Ashen Fleet. Look for the red fleet cloud in the sky, and go there. Multiple skeleton ships will attack you, and when you sink the ship with the captain on it will drop loot that has Ashen Chests (I think usually 4). Tomes are not guaranteed in Ashen Chests from the Ashen Fleet. Make sure you sink the captains' ship last. The Ashen Fleet is similar to the regular Skeleton Ship Fleet, but also fires firebombs at you. Also, beware of the Kraken that will usually spawn when the fleet is cleared.

2) From skull forts. Since the December 10 update, skeleton forts are now Ashen skeleton forts, and will have harder waves of skeletons, ending with two captain waves (one with a regular captain, one with both an Ashen Guardian and a Key Master), and finally a skeleton lord wave. You are guaranteed to get 1 Ashen Key and 1 Ashen Chest from the fort vault. Beware of the Kraken that will usually spawn when the fort is cleared.

3) From 'Ashen Guardians', skeleton captains that spawn randomly on islands. They will drop a map that shows where to dig for loot (usually on another island), with one Ashen Chest among the spots.

4) From Ashen Chest Stash voyages from Stitcher Jim in any tavern. These cost 30 doubloons, but show you a chest buried right on the outpost. You are guaranteed a Tome in these chests. This is by far the easiest and fastest way to get Ashen Chests.

Use the Ashen Key to unlock the Ashen Chest. It will contain at least one (random) Tome of Power, and any two of: another Tome, a bag of doubloons, a bag of gold, a trinket, a ritual skull. Sell the Tome of Power to Stitcher Jim. Once you sold all 5 different Tomes, the achievement will pop.

Note: you can also sell the empty chest to Jim, as well as the ritual skulls.

Note 2: there's also 'Tomes of Curses' that can drop in Ashen Chests, that were added before, in the Seabound Soul update. The chance you'll get a Curses Tome instead of a Power Tome seems to be 50/50, maybe less.

Final note: do not sell unopened Ashen Chests. You will NOT get credit for selling the chest's contents, only the chest itself. The issue with selling unlocked, unempty Ashen Chests has been fixed in a later update.

I've opened many Ashen Chests over the past week but have never recieved one of these tomes, I've got all the others but its weird that I don't even have one of these? Does anyone know if there was an update? I've found chests, got them from skelly ships, forts, and buying ashen chest maps from blige rats but still no "power" tomes...?

Well this sucks, I have gotten all the Power Tomes, awarded all the individual achievements, but this one struggles popping… Anybody have a link to SoT support that actually works? Their website is broken, so if you have one, I’d appreciate a PM :)

Ahoy Maties! MrBellek has an excellent text guide above, so refer to that for a lot of details, but I want to share with you a way to get ALL of the Ashen Tomes (Resurrection, Fire, Curses, and Power) in an hour or two for FREE. With the new Chests of Rage update you can now purchase Ashen Key and Ashen Chest voyages, which many of you probably already know.

BUT if you do this on a galleon (getting 4 for the price of 1), the amount of doubloons you gain will essentially make your net cost of getting these voyages free, and you can sit at an outpost with a galleon and three other players to grind these tombs at no cost!!!! Check the video for more details!

Still Random Chance but their is another way to try and unlock this and all other achievements related to selling the tomes.

Go to Duke at the tavern of any Island and you can buy 2 voyages from him, These are the Key & Chest voyages.

Chest voyage is 30 Doubloons
Key Voyage is 99 Doubloons

These chests & keys are always on that island so you can just keep getting keys and chests as long as you have the doubloons to spare for this and you will get some of the Doubloons back as most items including the Ashen chest can be sold back to Duke.

This is best done when playing on a Galleon with other players willing to chip in for the voyages so this is not expensive for one player.
