I was new at this game and I was struggling to find a good source online that's gave me insight in what is the best order to play the missions and "DLC" add-ons that were added over time. I certainly wish the game itself would make it more obvious, but to be honest it's a mess.
Tips i would tell my self before starting the game:
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***For those that like me enjoy putting the hard work of unlocking currency and cosmetics with the challenge system, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- You start the Campaign content from the OPERATIONS button in the main menu, not Play Now button which intuition would make you push first time you start game.
-when you finish the campaign you have 6 'base' heroes available and each have their own hero challenge card. The remainder 5 heroes that joined the roster later (Jane Foster, Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, Black Panther and Winter Soldier) will have their challenge card disabled. While disabled, you only unlock a reduced number of rewards by leveling up the card. You can "Enable" the card by forking over 1000 credits.
-Good news is that you get credits in every challenge card that you can use to unlock the next character challenge card you plan to play so you can in theory do this without spending real money.
-I recommend saving up for these cards if possible instead of spending it all in cosmetics from the marketplace.
-For those heroes that have "training" harm rooms dedicated to them in the helicarrier zone, these training HARM room scenarios are great to farm Daily/Weekly Challenges
- You do not have to level up all heroes for achievements, just a few to have a healthy roster (for hives) and add variety to the game.
-As you level up your favorite characters, you will notice missions have exclusive rewards for character above Power Level 80, 100 and 120. These are good milestone to use to level up characters and not missing out on legendary, omega, and the other higher gear rarities.
-When you unlock a new character, it starts at level 1 and won't be able to play most missions due to low level.
-I been saving the Avengers Initiative low level missions to kick off low level heroes. Once they reach power level 50 ish, you can start doing more missions from the repeatable ones.
-when you do want to buy something with credits like outfits or those awesome takedowns (i can't get enough of those), Crystal Dynamics often have sales and you can buy them for half price or less. Might be worth waiting for these to spend credits.
-There are quite often 2ble or 3ple XP weeks or weekends. These will reduce the amount of play time dramatically on your way to the game completion. I been favoring the hero being boosted to build my roster more efficiently and raise power level. While I'm writing this, there is triple XP for Captain America and Bucky
From the little I could gather online and my own playthrough.... in an effort to play chronologically and avoiding spoilers in a way that makes sense as well as enjoying several heroes, i believe best roadmap looks like this (This by no means represent the fastest way to 100% completion):
1- Campaign Part 1: **Reassemble campaign**
*Main campaign missions intertwined with...
*HARM room basic trainings for heroes
*Base-Heroes iconic missions (Kamala, Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Black widow)
* Shield and Inhuman Alliance assignments from each faction representatives
*Vaults
*Low level available drop zones
*Low-Level HARM room challenges I - V
*"Mayhem Over Manhattan" (final campaign mission, point of no return) base roster of heroes should be around power level 70 by now.
At this point you will unlock the final achivement which is unmissable and part of the Part 1: Reassemble mission chains
To continue working on the other achivements you can keep reading....
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***2- At this point we need to introduce Substation Zero base, for this...trigger Campaign Part 2: **Taking Aim** from the OPERATIONS menu. This will introduce Kate Bishop and I would like to recommend also triggering the characters Jane foster Mighty Thor + Winter Soldier Bucky unlocking via their own mission as well. They will be lvl 1 so you can use item 3 below to level up the all three new characters if you want or work on the base ones instead.
3- Avengers Initiative missions including:
*Nick Fury's back in action
*Shield Faction missions in PNW
*Most missions showing Maria Hill in the card that say Avengers Initiative and Taking Aim.
*Vaults
*drop zones
*villain sectors
*HARM room challenges
*Threat sectors
(I'm staying here until my favorite couple heroes are Power Level 100+)
4- Campaign Part 3: **Future Imperfect**
*Hawkeye missions
5- Villain Sector "Beating the Odds"
6- Advanced stuff:
*War Zones
*hives and Elite Hives
*high level Avengers Initiatives missions
*Multiplayer quick matches
*Red Rooms (HARM)
7- Campaign Part 4: **War for Wakanda**
*Black Panthers missions
8- Villain Sector "No rest for the wicked"
9- For these last ones you will need Hero/es at power level 140+
*Omega-level threats such as "AIM cloning lab" and *RAIDS
*Priority missions
*Tachyon rifts
*Ritual objectives
*Mega hives
*Elite raids
