The achievement unlocks upon smashing the 1,000th breakable object. Breakable objects include crates, jars, urns, and the like. Press cn_X or cn_Y to 'attack' an object with primary or secondary weapon respectively. If it shatters, it will increase the count towards the achievement.

Breakable objects respawn after a short period of time. For example, the first village you visit, Gorhart, contains a wealth of breakable objects both outside and inside the buildings. When you return after a short absence, the objects you have smashed will have regenerated and will, once again, count towards the achievement when broken.

Objects when broken often (but not always) 'drop' a small amount of gold. At the beginning of the game, this contributes significantly to your buying power. Later, when you start receiving large payouts from quest rewards, looted chests, enemy drops, and more; the gold picked up by breaking objects is too small to make a noticeable difference.

NPCs are indifferent to your wanton destruction. They are immune to your strikes unless you go into the aggressive mode by pressing cn_up. Feel free to attack everything indiscriminately. It takes a while to break 1,000 objects. However, breakable objects are scattered liberally throughout the entire game world. They are usually grouped together so you increase your tally by several at a time. Moreover, objects broken during combat also count.

The very short video below shows the achievement popping when the 1,000th object is smashed. Note how the NPC sits down casually oblivious to the mayhem:

As you progress through the story and world, smash things like crates and jars. They can be found in every town and reappear on a regular basis. If you smash these items as you see them (which gives you the possibility of gold too), you will get this achievement without thinking about it.
