"just finished with the Bidding Veteran Achievement.

i've been writing down some info on players and what it costs to win them:

    Overall rank: 45 - bid 5.5 Million
    50 - not sure*
    55 - not sure*
    60 - bid 10.5 Million
    65 - bid 12.5 Million
    70 - bid 16.5 Million
    75 - bid 18.5 Million
    80 - bid 21.5 Million

*sorry, i never had the chance to bid on a 50 or 55

NOTE: 2 or 3 times my scale was of on a player by One Million, so save on November 10th (they will notify you on whether or not they except the bid, on November 11th)

over a 30 year career this worked 95% of the time, i think the 1 million adjustments are due to scout miscalculations, but like i said, save and you'll be fine.

i know it's just a rough scale, but i hope it saves you some time.

Feel free to add to this."

Edit// Additionally, the Japanese players get posted immediately after the World Series ends. Save after the World Series ends. Once you advance a day or two into the offseason, you will get a notification about a certain number of players being posted. If only one or two players is posted, quit out and reload your save. I've found it to be completely random how many are posted. I would quit out until five Japanese players were posted and then bid on them. The most I've seen is five at a time.
