Update 2: As of 24Nov2020, it looks like the issue may have been fixed. There was an update and, while not testing it for a long time, I noticed there was improvement to the programming. This should be much more manageable now. I will leave the original information up in case there are still some issues.Update (original): The achievement is possible, FYI. The game wasn't patched, and is still very glitchy. However, if you focus only on stacking the green blocks vertically, you can make the target score. This is much more difficult than intended, but using fewer blocks will delay the game from glitchy mechanics. Good Luck!Update:
Some tips from ToastBubbles:Just to add a little to this guide (incase this doesn't get patched):
-Use less flies, 4-5 flies gives you way better control and less little idiots to knock stuff over
-Start with the 4 red blocks stacked vertically, then go to green (I finished mine off with a cheeky cylinder because it was all I needed, and cylinders are lighter than cubes)
-Alignment is everything. You will fail if you don't align the first few blocks perfectly, so take your time. Once you get near 1000, keep an eye on the tower, if you place a block it might start leaning, so quickly go ontop and pick it up to try and save the rest.
-Once you start getting some height, open the escape hatch. If you make it to 1500 and it starts tipping over, you can just dart into the exit before the points drop.
-Restart after complete failures and avoid hitting blocks too hard with the flies, this shifts the blocks on the Z axis which can mess things up.
Also, I put all the red blocks with their divots facing the same way for my successful build, it probably doesn't matter, but I feel like it helped me.
This achievement is a bit glitchy. I guess you could even say, it is.....full of bugs
But seriously, the Xbox One version of the game has an issue with stacking where the blocks will inexplicitly begin shifting to the foreground or background. Since this is a 2D game, you cannot control (or seemingly even prevent) this movement. Since the game regularly has this issue, it is virtually impossible to get the Gold score, let alone the achievement requirement.
While requiring a certain amount of skill, this achievement would be quite simple if the mechanics worked right. Just to give some perspective, below is a YouTube video of the Steam Version and a clip of me playing on the Xbox One. You can notice clear issues with the stacking.
Steam: (check it out at about the 10:00 mark)
I have just messaged the devs (and publisher and port team for good measure) concerning the issue. I will be sure to update when/if I hear back.
UPDATE: The dev got back to me and informed me that he was not involved in the console ports of this game. He did say that the pieces in Tower were never intended to move on the Z-Axis and that he is not sure if it is a porting glitch, or an executive (and poor) decision by the porting team.
