So, if you're like me, you breezed through the game pretty easily and then BOOM. Wall of frustration. But, if you're patient, you can beat the Tentacle Beast of Tramm, too.

Stage One:

The key is to wait for a tentacle to slam down and get stuck in the deck. Then, you have a few seconds to shoot its glowing orange sac to kill it. Once you kill it, that area right under the now dead tentacle is open for you to stand in. Use that area to take out the occasisional space marine and to shoot the next stuck tentacle. You'll have to kill all six before you get to stage two and a save point. Be sure to pick up any ammo each time you change spots.

Stage Two:

In stage two, you need to kill a little tentacle to bring draw out its big tentacle. Once you do, you need to shoot the mine it's holding to blow it up in its grasp. If you succeed, you get a nice empty spot on the ship with no little tentacle. If you fail, run straight to the edge, closest to the tentacle you were shooting. When it throws the mine, it can only hit the opposite side of the ship, so you'll be safe. After it throws the mine, its little tentacle will grow back, and you'll have to try again. You'll need to blow up each big tentacle to get passed this stage.

While this is going on, waves of space marines show up to add to the fun. Try to stay stocked on ammo and take cover in any of the corners of the ship. The marines aren't too much of a pain, as long as you're not caught out in the open. Also, use your upgrades whenever you can, as the space marines and tentacles replenish your bar very quickly. I found the fire one helped more. You might get as many as four times to use the upgrades throughout the stage, so don't worry about saving up.

The best time to pick a fight with a tentacle is right after you finish off a wave of marines. Finish the marines, grab some ammo, get to a corner, and shoot a little guy. Marines might show up while you're shooting at the big tentacle, but they can wait as long as you're tucked in a corner.

My overall strategy for this stage was to go one-by-one and take out each tentacle on one side of the ship first. Then, if you stay in cover on the side that still has tentacles, you at least won't have to worry about mines while you're fighting marines.

Go slow. Stay stocked. Resist the urge to throw your controller through your TV.

Stage Three:

Much easier than the other two. Just shoot the tentacles. Nothing fancy here. You're done!
