Since I just completed this mode and it is exactly the same as the Xbox One version, I'll copy and paste the guide I wrote back when I played the other version here.

One thing I might add: Check the difficulty in the options and put it on easy, don't do like me (I tried my first two runs on Nightmare because I still had that difficulty selected for the campaign).

First off, run to the opposite side of the map to grap the pouch (you will definitely need it to be able to carry more ammos and weapons in your inventory). There's also a Magnum nearby, and a Shotgun in the car on the right side near the campfire in the middle of the map. You'll find the SMG and the Grenade Launcher in the corners of the map near the starting point.

There's not much to be said, but:

    - save your Magnum / Shotgun / Grenade launcher ammos for later, when stronger enemies begin to spawn. Watch out though, because the Grenade Launcher can hurt you bad if you're not far enough from the explosion. Use it from the distance, preferably on slow enemies.

    - avoid getting stuck between objects and monster at all costs. Go grab your things when you're absolutely sure that enemies cannot surround you.

Tip: the game is very buggy, and sometimes the enemies just stay on the ground without moving (but they're alive). When no more enemies were spawning, I had to look for one of them laying on the ground in flames, and kill it to actually end the Onslaught.

SpeleoFoolOne major tip is that the game will only spawn a limited number of enemies at a time. On Xbox One it’s 4; on Definitive Edition there can be 5. Exploiting this is a HUGE advantage.

After grabbing the pouch, I just avoided all enemies and collected everything on the map before even beginning to fight. The Series X|S version of the game lets you sprint for a very long time (hold X), so just run some loops to cluster the first zombies and it should be very easy to collect stuff without getting hit.

Over by the Grenade Launcher (left of storage as you face it) there are two picnic tables close together. On both of my runs I managed to get a pair of zombies stuck between those tables by kiting them into the corner then escaping between the tables and running to the inventory area. I left them there for the duration, effectively taking them out of the fight so I only had to deal with 2-3 enemies at a time.

Since only 5 enemies can spawn at once, I mainly took out one enemy at a time until I at least knew what the new spawn was. Once the bigger enemies start spawning I ALWAYS carried the shotgun with and often would switch to it as soon as I dropped an enemy. The game can be bad about making the reptile sound before they’re on top of you.

I tended to take out weak zombies first and enforcers next (using pistol ammo for both since there is plenty). I left brutes because they’re slow and easy to avoid. When I got 3 brutes I’d cluster them up and hit the middle one with a grenade launcher headshot, which often took out 1 or 2 of them. Be sure to leave as much distance as possible since splash damage is huge and can induce bleeding.

Use the back button to monitor progress, be mindful of ammo usage, and top off whenever it’s safe, and this should be a breeze.
