  Don't be intimidated they aren't that bad. Craft a Weevil shield and make a spear. Its main attack has a cool down and you should be able to get 3-4 hits on it. So block stab rinse repeat. It has one attack that is 4 quick bites you'll have to lookout for to make sure u block them in time otherwise its a piece of cake.

  I used a Weevil shield an an axe. Same outcome. Don't need to go to any major effort, no block angles, no equipment breakage or block breakage. Block until he goes idle, then whack him hard.

  This can be done in creative with mild difficulty and bugs ignore players options on.
  
  I did have to save and exit, then re enter the game before the achievement popped though.

  If you are really struggling with wolf spiders I have a simple, yet effective strategy for you to use to unlock this achievement along with the accompanying mutation. There are several places where wolf spiders spawn. In this video below, it demonstrates how easy it is to kill them with venom arrows from a distance. I made a "wolf spider play pen" with palisade walls and added spike traps inside to help soften them up. All you have to do is shoot them from up top. If you're lucky, under the oak tree you have 1-3 wolf spiders in there at any given time. This video shows 3 wolf spiders trapped for easy farming of spider fangs.
  
  

  
  Same concept, but with no defenses. You can also just beat them with a mint mace and block well. If you are lucky, you can lure one out and go ham. See below video.

  This "guide" and the embedded video are no good. It was done a year before the full game release during the preview version of the game, and it exploited various glitches that are now gone.
  Obsolete!
  
  I've tried fighting a wolf spider with an upgraded axe and weevil shield... nope! Killed everytime. Gotta be an easier way.
  
  I did lure some antlions at a wolf spider in the sandbox, but they killed it before I could get the last hit. Maybe I'll try again. At least I got the items from a wolf spider, finally.
