First thing is first: Finding the umbrella. After being dropped off by the bus continue up the next couple flights of stairs until you enter into a room with a couple of crows working at desks. One will give you your first assignment and a door will spawn. After the conversation wraps up, head up the stairs to your left as if you're going to the door and then take an immediate left up another set of stairs. Continue to veer left up a final set of stairs and you should see the umbrella leaning up against a lightpost next to a bench.

Once acquired. Click the start button to open up the options menu, tab over to your inventory, and equip your weak, but handy umbrella that'll be accompanying you throughout the remainder of your playthrough. Enjoy!

Not at all! The game is fantastic and while going for this achievement will make the experience slightly more difficult, it isn’t really all that much harder.

For anyone in doubt...don't be. The game has a bit of a difficulty curve at the start whilst you're a bit underpowered, but once you get the fire spell and can upgrade your magic/strength, the game isn't very difficult. The walkthrough does a good job at setting you up to success whilst taking into account your umbrella-only run. You can use magic, and the bomb/fire spell is OP once you've upgraded it 3-4 times. The only fight that's really quite difficult is the Red Silver Servant, struggled on that, but it's doable with patience.

So clarifying, I equip the umbrella but I can still use my bow and arrow and magic?

Correct! As long as the only sword you swing is the umbrella, you should be good to go!

By swinging the sword can someone clarify if that means just no using it to kill or attack any enemies? Sounds potentially pedantic but I was swinging it a lot at the beginning getting used to the controls. But never attacked anything with it. Will I still be ok?

I believe people have had varying results with that in the comments above. If the achievement is still earn-able, the umbrella should be surrounded by a red outline on your inventory screen.

If the background of the umbrella in the inventory is pink you fine! That means you are eligible to success the run.
