This quest is bugged as sh*t on PC. Most of the time, when you activate the teleporter after coming back in from the space walk, the quest will auto-complete all of the objectives up to "kill the alien captain" and you'll be stuck, because Sally will teleport back to the engineering core and stand in front of an inaccessible door.

To work around this, don't activate the teleporter. Instead, use the "tcl" console command to noclip through the two doors Sally would normally open. You'll miss a little cutscene here, oh well. Go through the door to the Weapons Lab and proceed as normal, getting the Xenotech perk and the Alien Captive logs. When you get to the bridge, kill all the aliens and use the setstage command to complete the quest up to stage 40 (enter "setstage 05000804 XX" where XX is 5, then 10, then 20, then 25, then 30, then 40, you have to enter it multiple times. If you don't have all five DLCs, the quest ID won't be 05000804, see here for more info: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Form_IDs). Then, your companions will teleport onto the bridge and you can complete the quest as normal. Once the alien mothership is destroyed, you should get the achievement and credit for the quest.

An easy way of getting this, and every Achievement, in Fallout 3 PC, is by pressing the ~ button on the main menu.

On the bottom left of the screen a | sign will appear and you can start typing,

    By typing,

    addachievement 1
    addachievement 2
    addachievement 3

    all the way up to,

    addachievement 72

This and every other achievement will instantly pop for you.

Also, in NO way, shape or form is this any version of hacking or gamesaving. Your gamerscore will NOT be reset nor will you have to worry about the TrueAchievement Investigation Team labelling you as a cheater. This is a feature that was intentionally left available to the public in this game by the developers. Why they did this? I have absolutely no idea. Maybe this is the one time developers tossed achievement connoisseurs a bone for all the times they have created near-impossible achievements, or maybe they forget to turn this off before publishing the game.

As typing it's begin November 2013, and Microsoft already announced that GFWL will shutdown soon, rumours are begin 2014, with that all achievements for GFWL will become unobtainable.

So if you wish to give your Gamerscore a quick boost, 1550G in about 20 minutes of typing, or mop up the last achievements that you need, do it now before it gets shutdown!
