How to unlock the MW2 - Gunless achievement

  Actions

  As the achievement reads, you'll need to finish the mission "Alone" without firing a gun. Without spoiling anything, you'll begin this mission with nothing and you're objective is to meet back up with Ghost at a church. Once you meetup with Ghost, your objective will be to escape in a pickup truck. The achievement will pop once you are in the pickup and the cut scene begins. A few things to note
  
  

  • You'll be asked to obtain a weapon during the mission. As long as you do not fire the pistol, you should be fine. You are free to use it as a melee weapn.

  • There is a safe in the mission that contains a crossbow. DO NOT use this crossbow. It is considered a gun in this context.

  • Crafting equipment is very beneficial and could make a huge difference if you're playing on higher difficulties.

  If you take your time an examine the environment as you progress then you shouldn't run into any issues. Using bottles to gain the attention of the guards really helped me out quite a bit.

  Actions

  The first chunk of the COD MW2 mission 'Alone' doesn't include a gun or gives the option to equip one thus we skipped ahead to the fountain.
  
  As you approach the fountain part, make sure to grab bottles, tape, chemicles and other supplies. Continue to craft various equipment by accessing the backpack and don't be afraid to use your knife.
  
  Both the throwing knife and your melee knife will help you and NOT void the achievement. The same goes with the proximity mines. USE YOUR EQUIPMENT.
  
  There are parts, for example, after you leave the bookstore after the fountain that require you to just run despite being shot at hence why it's almost needed to try the MW2 Gunless Achievement on Recruit difficulty.

  This guide is very helpful, but for some reason I never got the knife, despite picking up the knife. Made it a lot harder without the knife, and I accidentally picked up a gun at some point. In case anyone else wonders, gun butts void the achievement.

  Actions

  Complete 'Alone' without firing your gun. This includes the crossbow which you find in the safe. If you fire your weapon at any point, you'll either have to restart last checkpoint or the mission to try again. Achievement/trophy pops upon completing the mission and if you never fired a gun.
