One of the most frustrating bosses of this game, especially at hard difficulty. This guide is going to be long so if you have any tips and notes of your own, please feel free to comment. Note, this guide is written from my own experience against this boss. Some number of the attacks might be wrong, if they are let me know so I can correct them.
This boss is two stage boss fight right after Corrupted Kung Fu master boss fight and Level 12 "Market Streets"
Be well upgraded if you are trying this on hard. The second phase is brutal as hell.
Since the first phase is cake walk I will not cover that phases move set instead I will tell you some tips and tricks and the move set of the second phase right away. Beware, every 25% loss of health, this boss will spawn another clone of itself and during the last 50% it will add 2 more moves on its arsenal.
Move set of phase two of how much boss has health left (Yensen Superior);
GENERAL TIP; Shoot this every time when you are sure that you have time to dodge or deflect if needed. Also use your Demolition shots or Fury Mode for extra damage and health regen when you are sure.
100% - 75%
- Will spawn two clones that are weak targets. These will stand around few seconds before they will spear towards you. In hard difficulty, two directs hits of these will kill you. They will emit a sound and will glow right before they will charge towards you. Right after these charges, they will become immoveable and the boss will most cases spawn behind you.
- After the clones the boss itself will either teleport behind you and will do 2 slashes that will emit a slash missile towards you in quick succession.
- If the boss will not do this, it will charge it's katana, sheet it and quickly will shoot you 5 slash missiles in a cone formation towards you just once. Yensen's eye will glow red right before this attack, signaling it to begin.
- Usually how ever Yensen will combine these attacks, starting usually with 2 slashes and then the charge slash. Really depends of your distance towards it.
Tips and Tricks; Either kill one of the clones quickly and dodge or just dodge them to side at the exact time while they are lunging towards you. For the slashes, you can DEFLECT them with your Death Tornado ability by standing still and pressing
. This has to be timed perfectly or you will take damage.
75% - 50%
- Clones will increase from 2 to 3.
- Quick Slash attacks will increase from 2 to 3.
- Charge Katana attack will increase from 1 to 3.
Tips and tricks; Do not kill any of the clones, just dodge them every time. IF however you are trying to kill the clones instead of dodging, try use Fury Mode for damage boost. Learn to Deflect every single slash attack.
50% - 25%
- Charge Katana attack will increase from 3 to 4.
- Quick Katana attack will increase from 3 to 4.
- Charge clones will increase from 3 to 4.
- New move set will be introduced. In this move set Yensen will spawn 3 clones beside itself, all of them will kneel and launch to the sky coming towards your location as mortal shells.
Tips and Tricks; Avoid all attacks at all cost, deflect every single slash attack when you can and put some distance to boss if you can. Useful if you need to recharge your shield.
25% - 0%
- Every single move set before.
- Charge Katana attack will be increased from 4 to 5.
- New final move set will be introduced. Ultimate slash dash attack that you will need to avoid and dodge at all cost. Right before this attack is going to be used, Yensen will glow white and you will see phantom katanas around the boss that will be shooted towards you. There is going to be a sound signal right before the attack begins. After this signal, Yensen will dash through you at light speed, most likely kill you in one hit if you have already suffered damage. If you manage to dodge this attack you can punish Yensen by shooting it to it's back since it will always dash behind you.
After killing Yensen Superior, achievement will pop during the cutscene.
