Spikes are first encountered at the end of level 1. However, I suggest getting killed by them at the start of level 2 - this will save you re-running the whole of level 1.
Load level 2: Fire an arrow into the wooden wall so you can climb up. Then simply throw yourself into the spikes to unlock the achievement.

Achievement Breakdown
(Base 1000g):
You can get all 8 achievements in the base 1000g in about 6 minutes. You simply need to play until the first boss. (Level 8). You will get most of the achievements naturally. Except:

- Killing an Archer with a Box
- Getting killed by an archer
- Getting killed by spikes

So just make sure when you get to the level with the archer, that you get both of those missable achievements.
