How to unlock the Extinguished achievement

    This is the longest case in the game. Bayernschweiz's guide from IGN is a very detailed, and covers all of the completion details as well. It's a fantastic guide. Here it is:

    Start from left and look at the generator in front of you.
    Click on the lid in the center to remove it.
    Click inside now. Collect traces by swabbing there.

    +++New Evidence: Liquid Sample found on generator wick+++

    Now in the same look and on the upper right you can see some white stuff
    smeared over there
    Click and collect the evidence with the adhesive mount.

    +++New Evidence: Paste found on generator+++

    Go back.

    Look at where it says "Generator" and click just on top of it for evidence.
    Use LCW to find some blood there.

    The generator is then taken back to the garage for testing.

    Go back.

    Let's continue by going further and looking at the victim.

    Go back.

    Now Look at Riley.

    Go back.

    Turn right. You can see a bottle near Riley. Look at it closely. Pick it up.

    In the same view, turn right and look at the vent there.

    Go back twice.

    Now to the right to find Dr. Vince.

    Start talking:

    - Hello, we're from the Las Vegas crime lab.
    - Do you recall what time you found Mr. Levesque?
    - Detective Brass mentioned that when you found him you were responding
    to a carbon monoxide alarm. is that correct?
    - So When the alarm went off you didn't call the fire department or the
    gas company?
    - Did you happen to touch the body or anything else in the room?
    - Have you seen anyone other than Mr. Levesque here?
    - Can you recall the last time you saw Mr. Levesque alive?
    - Thank you Dr. Manoto. Is this where we can reach you if we have any
    further questions?

    To the garage lab.
    Go inside and switch the generator on.
    Now to the Levesque home.
    Look at the book shelf on left. Go back. Then the TV on right.

    Now talk to victim's wife there:

    - Ma'am, your husband's occupation was obviously hazardous. Did he ever
    have an accident in his rehearsal space before?
    - Did your husband have any assistants?
    - Do you know of anyone else who might have had access to the rehearsal
    space?
    - Ma'am, was your husband suffering from cancer?
    - How old is your baby?
    - Had Andrew's doctor diagnosed any other ailments?
    - Is there anyone your husband might have quarreled with recently?
    Anyone who might have a problem with him?
    - At least you have insurance...
    - Thank you for your time. We'll be in touch.

    Go to the morgue.

    Ask:

    - Any word on the Andrew Levesque pickup?

    To lab.

    Search for Liquid sample found on generator wick.

    Select:

    #3 - #5 - #6 - #8. Confirm Match.

    Reset. Now search for paste found on generator.

    Select:

    #2 - 4# - 5# - 8#. Confirm match.

    Now to the same computer.
    In DNA, Select Blood sample found on generator and search.
    Select the second result. Match up everything and Confirm match.
    It's time to look at our Jug of paraffin. Look at the top and swab the inside.

    +++New Evidence: Unknown Chemical from the jug+++

    Now search for Unknown chemical from the jug.

    Select:
    #3 - #6 - 8#. Confirm match.

    Go to Brass's office.

    We need to bring Lyle Fitzer in for questioning.
    Present Lyle's Blood Sample found on generator.

    Do the talking:

    - Lyle, thanks for coming in.
    - We think he may have been killed by the generator.
    - Had Andrew ever hit you before?
    - Lyle, we're sorry for your loss.

    Doc Robbins Calls.

    Time to visit him at the morgue.

    Start Asking:

    - Ok, First order of business - Got a C.O.D.?
    - Did Mr. Levesque's medical records indicate that his cancer had
    relapsed?
    - So there were no signs of cancer treatment?

    - How about T.O.D.? When did all this happen?
    - Any problems getting prints and DNA?

    - Did you come across any trace evidence?
    - Anything other than CO show up on the Tox report?
    - Is there anything else I should know about Andrew's autopsy?


    First go to right and look at the empty tray.

    Go back.

    Look at the victim. Click on his mouth and swab there.

    +++New Evidence: Makeup+++

    Now go left and look at his left hand.
    Look closely and use the adhesive mount there.

    +++New Evidence: Stain on victim's wrist+++

    To the garage lab.
    Now go inside and turn it off.

    Still inside, Go to right and look at the detector on top.
    Great, now to the lab.

    Search for Makeup.

    Select:
    #2 - #5. Confirm match.


    Now compare Stain on victim's wrist with Caulk found on generator.
    Confirm match.

    To the microscope.
    Select Pill found in victim's esophagus.
    Use a 60x magnification.

    Look at the yellow part to find a number.

    Search for Medical ID number from pill in victim's esophagus in the
    Medical Database. Go back.

    Look at Pill found in victim's esophagus.

    Click on the pill to take a closer look.
    Swab it now.

    Then take a look at the white substance on the right.

    Collect using the adhesive moount.

    Go back.

    Search for Fluid found on pill in victim's esophagus.
    Select:
    #2 - #4 - #6. Confirm match.

    Reset. Search for Powder from pill in victim's esophagus.
    Select:
    #1 - #7 - #8. Confirm match.

    Go back.

    Now to Andrew Levesque's practice space.

    Go to far right and look at the clothes there. Go back.

    Now to the left and look at the vent again.

    Go to Brass's office.
    We need to get wider access to the warehouse complex.

    Now to the morgue.

    Let's talk:

    - Just to confirm, there was no methotrexate found by the tox report?


    Now a quick recap on the case.

    Then Brass calls to say Dr. Manoto is back.
    Let's pay him a visit at Andrew Levesque's practice space.

    Ask:

    - Pardon me, Dr. Manoto. Where does this vent lead?
    - Do you have keys to the boiler room with you?
    - Would you mind taking us to the boiler room?

    There's the boiler room.

    Look at the desk. Go back.
    Now look at the gas can on the ground. Pick it up.

    Go back.

    Look to the left and notice the furnace there by looking at it.
    Then turn right and see the vent.
    Click it to have it opened. Now go further inside.

    Click on the pipe for a closer look.

    Now the white part. Use the adhesive mount to pick up the evidence.

    Go to the lab.

    Look at Can of gas found in boiler room. Use swab on the opening.

    +++New Evidence: Gasoline found in boiler room+++

    Turn the can around.
    Look at the lower left part of the X-Shape on the can.
    Click there for evidence. Brush for prints.

    Go back.

    Compare White paste found on furnace with Caulk found on generator.
    Confirm match.

    Then compare Gasoline found in boiler room with
    Liquid sample found on generator wick. Confirm match.

    Prepare search for Print found on gas can.
    Select the only result and drag it to the upper right part. Confirm match.

    To the Levesque Home.

    Start talking:

    - Your husband's autopsy revealed that the cancer had spread
    to his lungs.
    - As far as you knew, your husband was not taking any kind of medication,
    is that correct?
    - Ms. Levesque, during the autopsy, we recovered some undigested pills.
    Perhaps he was taking supplements of some sort?
    - Thank you for your time. We'll be in touch.

    Go to lab.

    Compare Fluid found on pill in victim's esophagus with
    Lyle's blood sample found on generator. Match up the pieces.
    Confirm match.

    Go to Brass's office.

    We need a warrant to search the Levesque house.
    Present Fluid found on pill in victim's esophagus.

    Now we're in the house. Click on the spot left to Riley's position to go to
    the hallway. Now choose the room on right. Go in.

    Starting from right, look at the TV. Go back.
    Then the closet in front of you. Go back.
    To the left now and look at the bed.
    Then go to right and find a different color on the carpet there.
    Click to examine and then use Luminol to get the evidence.

    Now a bit to the right and pick up the medication lying there.

    +++New Evidence: Pill found in Levesque home+++

    Go further right for more evidence. Click the black part and swab it.

    Go back.

    Now look at the top of where we were looking at and find some pills next
    to the alarm clock. Pick them up.

    Go back.

    Time to leave for the lab.

    First look at the elevator and then the crime scene photos for thoroughness.

    Go back.

    Compare Blood sample found at Levesque home with
    Fluid found on pill in victim's esophagus. Confirm match.


    Now compare Fluid found at Levesque home with
    Fluid found on pill in victim's esophagus. Confirm match.

    Then go back and look at Pill found in Levesque home.
    Swab the white powder.

    To the DNA department to compare Amniotic fluid from Levesque home with
    Fluid found on pill in victim's esophagus. Confirm match.

    In chemicals, compare Fluid found on pill from Levesque home with

    Then to the DNA again and compare Fluid found on pill from Levesque home with
    Fluid found on pill in victim's esophagus. Confirm match.

    Next go to the microscope to look at Pill found in Levesque home.
    Use a 60x magnification.
    Look for the serial number in the same location.
    There's a match.

    To Brass's office.

    Found anything about Jeremy Proxmire yet?

    Go back.

    To the Boiler Room.

    Look at the pipe and click on the prints to brush and get them.

    Enter the materials lab and you can see Nick in need of some help there.
    Go to Document Analysis and select Mysterious document.

    There are 7 colors to find. So let's start:

    1-Light Blue

    Left slider : All the way down
    Middle slider : Slightly lower than center
    Right slider : Slightly lower than top

    2-Pink

    Left slider : Slightly higher than center
    Middle slider : All the way down
    Right slider : All the way up

    3-Green

    Left slider : All the way down
    Middle slider : Slightly lower than top
    Right slider : All the way down

    4-Orange

    Left slider : Lower than top
    Middle slider : Slightly higher than center
    Right slider : All the way down

    5-Purple

    Left slider : All the way down
    Middle slider : All the way down
    Right slider : Slightly lower than top

    6-Red

    Now go and search for Antifungal cream in medical database.

    Now Brass calls saying the pipe is now fully ready for processing.

    But wait. First go back and prepare search for print found on boiler room
    keycard.
    Select the only result and match to the upper left part. Confirm Match.
    Go to the boiler room.
    Look at our safe pipe now. Try to pull it off. Nick will be there to make it
    even with his favor and there you have it.
    Pick up the fingernail stuck in there.

    In the same view, look at the dark part underneath for another evidence.
    Cast a mold there.

    No DNA but some fungal infection marks there.

    Again in the Levesque home. Now with full permissions!

    Alright now let's go to the hallway and to the room on left.
    Enter the room. Look at the TV.
    In the same view, go to the far left and pick up the piece of metal there.

    Go back.

    Look at the desk now. Click on the red object there to pick it.

    Go to Andrew Levesque's practice space.

    Go to right and look near the boxes there for thoroughness.

    Go to lab.

    Look at knife from Lyle's room.
    Drag to the right and find something stuck there. Pick it up.

    Now look at toothpick from knife in Lyle's room. Examine the tip.
    Click there for evidence and use adhesive mount to collect it.

    Go back.

    Compare mold of chisel mark in furnace pipe with chisel from Lyle's room.
    Use 10x zoom. Match found.

    Go back.

    Search for white powder from knife toothpick.

    Select:
    #5 - #8. Confirm Match.
    Go to Brass's office.

    We need to arrest Lyle Fitzer.
    Present chisel used on furnace pipe, found in Lyle Fitzer's room.

    Let's interrogate him.

    Young Mc6When Matching the second print (one off of the pipe), again match only 3 of the 5 points. It will be the second choice down and it will match in the upper right corner.

    Use this Youtube guide to get 100% cunning.

    You can also get the other achievements for the 100% Skill & solving Case 4 by using this guide.

    Update 25/04/2012: Old videos went bad and didn't work anymore. I updated it now. Can someone else confirm you get 100% on these as i don't have the game anymore.

    Update 11-08-2013, credit to BrutalTrve Geek for noticing: There is a mistake at part 4, 6:15 approx. The guy in the ved put the unknown DNA sample at the wrong place (right instead of left) this cause a 2% error.
