How to unlock the The Stars My Destination achievement

The key to this achievement is a high level grav drive, upgrading your Astrodynamics skill, or both. I would highly recommend both! Patience is a must as well as there are 120 Star Systems. Thanks for counting, Xero Deathz!

If you want to maximize your chance for this early in your playthrough, I would recommend just using your grav drive to hop between systems.

If you want to do this and earn some XP/Credits on the way...
    *** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I can list out each Star System you're looking to go through but there's really not much to this entire process. Be cautious that some Star Systems contain more than one Star. So they'll sometimes be stacked upon each other.

I spent some time to count things out and have a list of what I think are the 20 Binary Systems in the base game (not including NG+) as well as the only Three-Star System. From my count, that leaves 77 individual Star Systems. I do not plan to list those out but I can with pictures if people request it in the comments. If I've made any errors, let me know and I'll happily update things.

    Binary Star Systems
    - Alpha & Beta Andraste
    - Carinae & Eta Cassiopeia
    - Bessel & Piazzi
    - Procyon A & B
    - Sirius & The Pup
    - Narion & Valo
    - Alpha Centarui & Toliman
    - Guniibuu & Indum
    - Oborum Prime & Proxima
    - Aranae & Olympus
    - Alpha & Beta Tirna
    - Xi & Zeta Ophiuchi
    - Cheyenne & Maheo
    - Bradbury & McClure
    - Ursae Majoris & Minoris
    - Alpha & Beta Marae
    - Bolivar & Rivera
    - Copernicus & Copernicus Minor
    - Delta & Gamma Vulpes
    - Bannoc & Bannoc Secondus

    Triple-Star System
    - Alpha, Beta, & Proxima Ternion

The way you track if you've visited the System before is it will be light up brightly if you have been there before and it be faded if you have not. Another method is to highlight the name. If you haven't visited it, it will only display the Name and Level. If you have visited it, it will show more details below the name. Thanks, lucylu1983!

In a more official way to count, as mentioned in the comments, you can press cn_start, then cn_Y, then scroll down to Exploration. The top of this section tells you how many Systems you've visited. Thanks, Ssj Sean!

I cannot confirm how NG+ works, but I assume you just need to visit 120, even though the achievement description says all. This is based on feedback in the comments.

Please leave me any feedback below and I'll happily update things. Happy grav jumping! music

GoatlipsCoolio. That Van Maanen's Star is tiny, I'd already got it, but it's directly left of Sol and directly above Tau Ceti. Also, the one with 3 stars (Alpha, Beta, & Proxima Ternion) just looks like 1 big one - it's quite a bit further right of Kryx, and below.
My ship has 30LY grav jump, and 400 fuel, and only once or twice did I have to have a stopover - 500 is the most fuel you'd need, and 250 minimum - the 30LY grav jumps are more important (you have to manually attribute the power to it via dpad? I don't attribute any power to the engines, just in case I want to fight Starborn craft).
You should do this achi just before the Level 100 one, as you get a bit of XP, but obviously before finishing the Unity story (although, apparently, it's easier to continue on into the Unity replay, as however many star systems you had left you just need to visit any of the newly 'unvisited' ones - I'd visited about 80 on my first normal playthrough).

ManiacalRobin47Luyten's Star took me on a wild goose chase trying to figure out which one I hadn't done and like Van Maanen's Star (mentioned by Goatlips above), it can be kinda tricky. It's closest Procyon A & B with Sirius & The Pup sitting just below it on the Starmap.

I can confirm, the name of this achievement is wrong, it should be ´´Visit 120 solar systems`` because if you visit 100, just start NG+ and visit another 20 solar systems and the achievement will unlock normally.

And if you're still reading this, good morning, good afternoon and good night.

Just had this pop myself. The other guide is pretty perfect, just get a ship with the best grav drive and put all your points into it and then bounce to every star system you can. However I would like to add that I do think that Unity counts, atleast it did for me. If you're far enough to understand what Unity means then right now you're probably going "ahhh" otherwise I'll just say finish the game. I was stuck on 119 and couldn't get it to pop, I finished the game and it popped during the credits so that's my only real explanation as to why.

TheBigBBThe one you were missing without going to Unity was probably an incredibly small star. My 120th star looked barely larger than a pixel on my screen. MUCH smaller than any other star on my map. I was surprised when I highlighted it and it was actually a system.

XxSilverSonicxXThank you TheBigBB. For anyone else looking, that teeny tiny star is called Van Maanen I and was the last one for me to find ((without doing Unity). It is on the far left of the map horizontally slightly above the level of SOL (which is easy to see).

Instapissed KCCame here to say thank you to SilverSonic for the description of the location of the Van Maanen star. That was my 120th system. Cheers!
