  NOTE: There have been conflicting reports about if reloading old saves and re-killing the Vortex Horrors in The Other Side mission works (requires more data to confirm)
  
  Vortex Horrors are introduced in the The Other Side mission - to start it you must finish one of the three Aligning The House missions you are given after The Promised, Broken which is the 2nd Mission of the DLC. (I completed Zealous Overreach however any quest works as they all end at the same location).
  
  Inaza will interrupt the conversation you are having and give you the quest. Simply follow the quest waypoints and you will encounter them.
  
  You can kill a good number of them during the mission and they will then start spawning naturally in the world as random encounters, much like the other phantom enemies.
  
  You should encounter enough of them before you finish the DLC to earn the achievement but if not explore around the planet - you can usually see them fighting other animals / phantoms in the distance, since they glow they are hard to miss. They should also spawn on planets/moons within the same solar system.
  
  EDIT: As pointed out by GoodSmith the new Vortex Grenade - Lure also spawns a vortex horror which count towards achievement however you must first have the materials to craft one - most of which only come from vortex horrors.
  
  Lure Grenade Materials:
  Dark Vortex Cyst (Rare drop from Vortex Horrors)
  Vortex Cyst (Uncommon drop from Vortex Horrors)
  Vortex Shard (Common drop from any type of 'Phantom' enemy)
  
  Giving this grenade to a companion will make them throw it and spawn Vortex Horrors in combat.

  I went to two other planets in the same system as Varun’kai and encountered vortex horrors on both of them. I just drove to the closest POI after landing and found 2-3 vortex horrors both times.

  I tried reloading an older save and killing 6-8 horrors each time. It absolutely did not work. So I can't personally recommend that method.

  One of the 5 new grenades in the DLC spawns a vortex horror, so if you already have the ingredients for it craft one and equip it on your companion and go fighting. Shooting those spawns counts towards the achievement. Tested it today.

  If like many players you didn't get the chance to shoot enough vortex horrors in the Anomalous Cave quest, and after completing the DLC story you found their spawn rate is extremely low, you still have a chance to get this achievement easily.
  
  Check if you have the ingredients to craft one of the 5 new grenades introduced in the DLC, called Vortex Grenade - Lure. This grenade spawns a vortex horror.
  
  If you can, craft one and equip it on your companion and go fighting. Your companion will use the grenade and you can shoot the vortex horrors spawned by it, and they count toward the achievement.
  
  I was able to test and confirm this today to get this achievement.
