This is a cumulative achievement.
No matter how many champions you have killed before perform a Ritual. The in game counter is pretty accurate and when you have killed all 25 the achievement will pop.
The Champions have a yellow star over his head.
There also some in game Quests to earn a couple purple shards that can be used to buy some chests.
