this achievement can be fun, but for many will turn in to a painful boosting session. To get this achievement you need get 1000 or more battle points with EVERY character online.

You cannot rank up in tag team or endless mode. To do this achievement It will take being able to tollerate a grind of boosting, casual gaming, and in some cases mad skill.

Basically to get ONE character to C it takes 20 wins, no losses. To boost this it will take about 40-50 minutes to boost 1 character up from D to C. The way i'm doing it takes that long atleast because I am doing all the super/ultra finishes achievements on the way. The matches will go by faster if you do the same once you get the 365 flashy background finishes ach.

there will be for 35 characters a total of 700 matches you must win without losing one. average a minute twenty seconds a match lets say with loading times and the actual match, It will take you ROUGHLY 14 hours to do this for one person. That isn't likely that you will fly through it that quick as well unless you have all the best moves lodged back in your head so lets just go with 15 hours to be safe. From there you have to help your boosting partner :) so there goes another 15 hours roughly.

So think before attempting this one, make sure you really want to grind ANOTHER game for 50 points.

TIME: Roughly 15 hours for 1 person
    MATCHES NEEDED: 700 wins
    BORING LEVEL: 9/10
ACHIEVEMENTS YOU CAN GET WHILE GOING FOR THIS:all the 50, 100 attack type achievements and the 365 flashy background finishes along with all outfits, taunts once your done.

Good luck, you'll need it (smash tv quote)

First of all: I mean Battle Points (BP) when I talk about points! Player Points (PP) is essentially your overall skill as measured by the game and your wins and losses, regardless of what character you're using. They are not necessary to get this achievement! You can only rank up a character with BP.

It is a really time consuming achievement. You have to rank up all 35 characters to C in ranked matches. For D+ you will need 500 points, for C you will need 1000 points. (Update: You do NOT need to rank up arcade edition characters!)

If YOUR character is D ranked and you win against rank D+ or C you will get 65-67 points. Against a D ranked character you will only get 50 points.
If YOUR character is D+ ranked you will only get 65-67 for a win against C ranked characters. Against a D or D+ ranked character you will get 50 points.

When you play against D characters only you will need 20 matches (20 x 50 = 1000). So I recommend to play against better ranked characters only. You will need 16 matches if you do that (16 x 65 = 1040). This way you will save 140 matches in total (35 characters x 4 matches = 140)!!

Which characters should you rank up first?
Seth is first. He got least health. It is faster to defeat him. And when he is C ranked your partner will get more points-> less time consuming.
    Next would be Akuma.

For example if player 1 goes for C rank with any character player 2 should pick Seth. When it is the turn of player 2 player 1 should pick Seth.
Swap to Akuma when your Seth is close to 500. Do NOT let him rank down to D+.
When a C ranked character loses a match he is also losing 5 points. For example my Seth ranked down when he reached 499 points. I guess 500 is the mark. If you go below this mark you would have to rank up your character again from D+ back to C. So you can do about 98-99 losses before swapping to the next character.

You can find a list for health / defence here:

You can get some titles / icons / achievements while you are boosting this.
For example you will get these achievements without losing any time:

Super Street Fighter IVQuarter UpThe Quarter Up achievement in Super Street Fighter IV worth 29 pointsFight 30 opponents via Arcade Fight Request. It'd be easy with the right bait, he he.

If you want to do some more achievements you could do focus attacks and special attacks while boosting.

Do not boost flashing finishes (just a recommendation). This would take more time because you have to fill your bar(s).

You can also get some titles and icons like I said before. Some of them have to be done online.

A full list can be found here:

You do not have to concentrate on normal and perfect wins because you will get enough of them while boosting the Shining C. But you will need wins by time [set timer to 30 seconds for this, hit one or two times (each of you to avoid perfect win) and let the time pass] and chip damage (When you do a special move, it'll still do a small amount of damage even if your opponent blocks). You can do counter hits and quickstands as well without losing too much time.
Just check the list on x360a if you are interested.

If you do not know any combos you should spam LB or RB. Works with nearly every character very well. For some characters like Seth or Dhalsim you have to use other buttons. A match will take about 6-8 seconds.
We could finish 4 characters EACH (= 8 in total) in 2,5 hours.

I'm finally done with this one, so I figured I'd share what I've learned. Note this is all meant as boosting advice. If you're doing it the legit / hard way, why are you reading Solutions? Sorry if this seems anal, I tend to try and find the most efficient ways to do things.

Assuming you're below C rank, if you win against a D ranked or D+ ranked character, you only get 50 BP per win. If you win against a C rank character you get 65 - 67 per win, shaving the amount of wins needed per character from 20 to 16. The C rank character will lose 5 BP per fight (6 if the winning character had 0 BP), but I've gone as far down as 580 BP on a character and not lost my C rank. The achievement just wants C ranks, not 1000 BP per character, so you can go below the 1000 mark on a character and not worry about it messing you up.

I'm not boosting flashy finishes, but I can get a character from 0 to 650 (10 wins) in about 15 minutes (meaning ~30 minutes for 1300 BP or 1 C rank and ~270 BP on the next character) with a dedicated partner. In my opinion, the flashy finishes are better boosted with an Easy computer in 7 round arcade.

Lastly, to keep track of rounds (I do 10 rounds per player before switching), I use the stage select screen to keep track of rounds. Start on the left, below the random select (I believe it's Solar Eclipse) and each fight select the next level down and then back up the 2nd column. This will put the 10th fight on Crumbling Laboratory (the final Arcade stage). You can either repeat this pattern every10 fights, or, for variety's sake do a similar pattern on the right, starting in the top right and going down to just above the random select and then left and back up the 3rd column. Except for the last fight, move left once to put the 10th fight at Crumbling Lab again. That way you and your partner will always know that after you fight on crumbling lab, it's time to switch who's winning.

Stage Select screen, X is crumbling lab / 10th fight
    ?- - 1
    56 -?

Hope this helps someone get through this. Even with this to help you, it's still a grind of an achievement. Not as bad as the trials though! At least this one is possible!

As I never found any place to confirm this, I want to post this here. You CAN get players from different editions to C and get the achievement.

I did 8 character in Arcade Edition (NOT the new 4) and then I went back to do the other 27 characters in the regular edition. I popped the achievement on my last one. I never did any of the new characters from Arcade Edition.

This achievement was very fun, because it allows you to gain an appreciation for every character in the series. It also shows you the strengths and weaknesses of each character, because when you fight that character in the future, you would know how to beat them since you played with them.

The things that helped me get through this was the following:
    - Utilizing throws; most beginner players dont expect or use throws, so if they start to block a lot, use your throws.
    - Using your Focus Attacks; most people can't resist jumping in with a heavy attack, so use your FA to absorb that hit and counter with the FA, and they will crumple and allow you to use your combos (or your ultra)
    - Baiting out moves; after knocking the opponent down, charge up your Focus Attack over their body, and then quickly dash backward as they get up. Most of the time they will throw out an attack and leave themselves vulnerable, allowing you to punish.
    - Go through a few trials before using a new character. It will show you combos and the command list for each character
    - Start with the weaker characters (characters that are harder to use) first. I started with Hakan (which was actually fun), Zangief, T.Hawk, Dan, and the charge characters.

All of these factors helped me out a lot. And for those who have the Arcade Edition, Yun/Yang/E.Ryu/Oni do not count towards this achievement. I had everyone finished except Sakura and Oni, and once I finished Sakura the achievement popped (pleasant surprise).

Also, the following link gives a breakdown of each character and their strengths and weaknesses. Very helpful website:

It's "simple" - play all 35 characters in the game in ranked online matches until you have at least 1000 BP with each. Every win will get you at least 50 BP, so that's 20 wins with each, meaning you've got 700 wins ahead of you (and at around 3 minutes per match, with added time for losses and waiting for players...)

Note that this is one of the achievements from the original game, meaning you are thankfully not required to rank up Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu, or Oni.
