Do this over three campaigns, keeping a checklist of players that you unlock.

Play on ‘Easy’.

Complete your weekly challenges in order to get a 4* player by the end.

To force players to appear (so that you can unlock them) beat the country they are in and unlock as many players as possible. Put them in your team and play against that country again. Remember that you can put players on your subs bench as well.

Do not upgrade your captain right away. You’ll get most of the players at your lowest rating. Superstars may need you to be at 3*, so save that for the final week.

Brazilian players, the Argentine keeper and ‘legends’ are NOT required for this achievement.

Everyone you need can be unlocked in Campaign Mode.

This achievement requires at least three playthroughs but if you want to minimise your pain I’d say the best way to go about achieving is this, especially if you don’t want to end up completely hating the game.

Before you start, print out a list (or have a laptop handy) of all the players http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23...

As you unlock them in the game, cross them out or delete them from your list. NOTE: you do not need Brazilian players or the Argentine keeper.

When upgrading your captain (AND THIS IS IMPORTANT) buy all the 500pt upgrades first, then the 1000s, then the 1500s and then the 2000s. Don’t max out any particular attribute. You’ll get a much better player if you do it this way and you won’t miss out on getting a 4* player for the achievement. Make sure to upgrade them to 4* BEFORE the final tournament or else the achievement doesn’t unlock.

When creating your player go for a defender and, as odd as it sounds, make him black and give him bright blonde long hair. The reason for this is so that you can spot him on the pitch and go for the Full House and Hat Trick Hero achievements. Make sure to set the game to Easy as well. You won’t get as many Pure Points but if you play all the tournaments (rather than single matches) and complete your weekly challenges (for 10,000PP per week), you’ll easily get the ‘The Guardian’ achievement.

During the campaign, concentrate on winning matches and meeting the unlock conditions for as many players as possible. You’ll have at least two other campaigns to play so don’t worry about unlocking everyone. Make a note of which players you unlock (be warned that while players are instantly unlocked after single matches, you’ll need to finish tournaments in order to keep players unlocked during those tournaments – quitting out will set you back to the beginning of the tournament).

During week 27 or 28, remember to upgrade your defender as much as possible.

Pick a midfielder or striker and play through the campaign. During this playthrough you’ll be keeping an eye on the players you need from your list. The trick to getting them all is this.

Firstly, do not upgrade your captain at all. By this point you’ll be scoring for fun anyway. If you need any help, basically shoot from the halfway line (making sure it’s a pure shot – ie, get your power bar into the white area when you shoot). You’ll either score or the keeper will save it. Most of the time he’ll parry it out for a corner. Scoring from corners is super easy if you hit pure shots and crosses.

Say you are trying to get Phillip Lahm from Germany. As soon as you see Germany turn up as an opponent, make an effort to unlock all the players (even if you’ve already unlocked them in playthrough 1).

Once you’ve unlocked them, transfer them all into your side. Remember that you have seven slots available for this (four in the main team and three subs). Any players in your side cannot play against you so Germany will be forced to play five other players.

Play them again (you can replay the previous match although it’s better if there is a new match/tournament to play as this helps you unlock new pitches and other teams to play against).

After this if you have any players left to get, you can try putting some of the new unlocked players in. If you still can’t get a certain player to turn up, he’ll probably play against you if you upgrade your captain (this is certainly the case for players like C.Ronaldo and Thierry Henry). This is a last resort though (upgrading your captain makes some lower level players not appear).

You may have to replay certain matches (usually if you fail to meet a condition such as completing 12 successful tackles) which will cost you in terms of Pure Points. Be careful as you still want a 4* player at the end of the campaign. Weekly challenges are the key to getting big points.

Go for whatever position you have left (striker or midfielder). You’ll probably only have a handful of players left to unlock. Do what you can to get them but keep an eye on your Pure Points. You still want that 4* player.

Unlock conditions come in a few flavours. Have a certain number of shots, make a certain number of tackles, complete a certain number of consecutive passes etc. These are usually very straightforward but occasionally it’ll be a pain. Here’s some tips.

Consecutive passes/passing accuracy/possession: simply pass the ball between your defenders. The AI will take a while to come and challenge you.

Successful tackles: score a couple of early goals and then concentrate on this (unless it’s asking you to get five tackles in a one-minute match). Use LT to do a step-in tackle. These are a tad random but they work. Or you can press B (I think) to slide in. These are more likely to win the ball but I don’t think they count if you foul. Anyway, the likes of John Terry (*spit*) tend to require this sort of thing. As if you didn’t hate him enough already. You might want to turn off penalties (main menu, options, penalty frequency) before you go for this.

4/5x multipliers: you increase your multiplier by scoring goals. It doesn’t matter if you concede in between. Your multiplier is displayed in the top left of the screen and there will be a timer next to it telling you how long you have left to score another goal. Use the long range shot/corner trick to get your goals.
