This achievement is Trials – Chapter IX, awarded for completing all the trials in Chapter IX. This chapter has three levels, but the trials aren’t too bad.

As a general rule when approaching trials, I recommend setting the difficulty to ‘Squire’ in the main menu (Configuration - Difficulty). This will allow you to charge up Combat Focus very quickly, as well as making combat a little easier in general, so that’s a good place to start. If you're having trouble with a particular trial, just keep at it - extra practice and better knowledge of the stages are typically enough to get you through any trial.

Some specific tips for these trials:

In Chapter 9-1 (Bones Forest), you must defeat 10 Headless Corpses without ever being grabbed by one of them. At this point in the game, your dodging skills are probably good enough to get this fairly easily.

In order to get a total of 10 kills, you’ll have to kill all the Headless Corpses in the first area (I had 6 there) plus a few from the ridge containing the second Shadow Gem in this level (it’s right above the cave you must pass through to proceed, sprint and double jump to reach the upper level).

The most important thing to do during this trial is dodge like mad. I recommend keeping enemy health bars on-screen (from the Extras menu), so you can see where the underground corpses are lurking. Regardless, the corpses will generate a little red glow when they’re about to grab you – take that as a cue to dodge and you’ll avoid the grab more often than not.

As with most of the trials, retrying from the last checkpoint doesn’t reset your progress, so feel free to restart any time you make a mistake (there’s a checkpoint after the first group, so you only need to get 5-6 without screwing up). After a few attempts, you should be able to get the necessary kills.

A much easier solution involves Ultimate Light. If you have access to that Relic Power, you can blast the corpses out of the ground with ease. Then you can finish them off, without the risk of getting grabbed.

It'll be difficult to keep that going, though, even if you have a full Light Magic bar. Try to conserve as much as you can and you'll be able to get most of the way there. If you don't manage to complete the trial with your available Light Magic, follow the above procedure to get the last few kills.

In Chapter 9-2 (Woes Moor), you’re asked to complete the level, scaring the crows a maximum of 13 times. After you’ve completed the level once, it may be clear how to get this done, but here’s the basic idea:

-Scare the first flock of crows twice, bringing you to the first scarecrow fight (11 scares remaining).
-Defeat the first scarecrow and scare the crows twice more (this should cause the second flock to appear and put the original flock back on the platform that started the first fight – 9 remaining).
-Run around to the barricade, bust through it, and scare the new flock (8 remaining).
-Head back down and scare the second flock (make sure not to touch the original flock) 4 more times to initiate the second scarecrow fight (4 remaining).
-After the second scarecrow, head to the third. Don’t scare the flock sitting near the third scarecrow; instead, move the flock on the other side of the shed 2 times, putting the two flocks next to each other and as close to the third scarecrow as possible (2 remaining).
-Break through the second barricade and scare the resulting flock twice, triggering the final scarecrow fight (0 remaining).
-Eliminate the scarecrow, head back to Baba, and claim your prize!

In Chapter 9-3 (The Music Box), you have to finish the level without falling into any of the traps.

You should already know how to get through each of the different traps, having completed this infernal stage to unlock the trial in the first place. The trial itself is simply a matter of abusing the retry option as often as necessary to perform each segment flawlessly. Even so, here are some reminders, along with the appropriate color sequences:

Green - dash through the corridor as soon as the spikes retract.

Red - jump across the platforms as they rise, remembering that you have a window of about one second between the time the next platform rises and the time the current platform falls. It’s very easy to overshoot with double jumps; fortunately, single jumps are good enough to get through these sections.

Magenta – dodge under the gears on the ceiling; start dodging at the line on the floor.

Yellow – dash through the corridor when the flames go out. Make sure to stop in the middle to reset yourself for the second set of flames. I found the sprinting controls to be a bit clumsy, so it was tough to get the timing right on the second set of flames. Be careful and patient and you’ll be able to get it.

Blue – wait for the electricity to disappear and carefully work your way through the hallway. On the first set, follow behind the electricity slowly (when the bit closest to you disappears, step into its place). On the second set, run (but don’t use the Cyclone Boots) right behind the electricity.

For reference, here are the correct color combinations:

Red Green
Red Magenta
Red Yellow
Red Blue Magenta Green

Fortunately, there’s a checkpoint after each color combination, so mistakes won’t send you back to the beginning. As a result, this is another trial that’s more a question of tedium and patience than a really difficult task you need to perform.

Quick Summary:
- Enemy health bars are a big help in Chapter 9-1
- Dodge when you see a red glow in 9-1
- Follow the specific outline above for 9-2
- Retry like mad until you can get through each part of 9-3

EDIT: It seems that the trial achievements were updated on the site, with this one correctly labeled "Trials - Chapter IX." I suspect that some if not all of the negative votes were given because this achievement was erroneously called "Trials - Chapter XI" (see the comments for an idea of what happened), so I'm editing the solution so that the negative voters get messages to check out the changes.
