This Achievement unlocks after you have played a cumulative total of 5 hours of Kinect joyride. If you are like me, you only got joyride for playing with the odd guest. This isn't your serious racing sim. So the obvious solution of playing kinect joyride for 5 hours of racing time (so with menus and stuff you are looking at more) isn't for you.

That is where the fun solution comes in:

The way to do this is to trick your Kinect into thinking that you are playing the game. I did this by placing my puffy winter jacket over the back of a chair, zipping it up, and placing some pants over the seat of the chair, making a headless dummy. I put a broom in upside down poking the bristles out the neck of my jacket, then put my hat on top of the bristles. This was enough to convince my Kinect there was a player present.

For me it was just a matter of sitting in the chair, setting up a race and then ducking out of the way, leaving my dummy in place. A couple of times it didn't think I had stayed playing, thinking a guest had taken over, but I fixed that by ducking forward out of camera to the floor really quickly. I'm not sure if you get the achievement if the Kinect thinks a guest is driving, but it only took me a couple tries to trick the Kinect into thinking it was me.

If you spread the arms of your dummy wide and somewhat back to the sides the vehicle in Joyride should slow down to a crawl and stop. Some people suggest driving the vehicle into a corner, but I found that too difficult, whereas resting my jacket's arms on the coffee table just behind the chair worked great. The point is you don't want the dummy to finish the race, ideally you want your car to sit there for five hours, either nose into a wall or stopped.
(however if your dummy does finish the race the photos can be very funny :)

This allows you to turn the TV off, walk away and let the timer run on Joyride.

A few hours (5 to be exact) later I checked on the machine, sat down in the chair and finished the race. When I was done the race this achievement popped.

This method also works for the 10 hour version of this achievement, which is where I first read of it.
